Cobra Evolution S GT

I've been looking around, and I like how it looks

I've already e-mailed SubeSports and talked to them; they are saying that Kevlar is much stronger and a lot lighter then fiberglass

now, with the sliding bracket, shipping, alloy mount, and seat, it's going to be really close to $1400 just for 1 seat - which is a lot of money; might as well hold out later and get a set of GT2/GT3's

any opinions?

the car is a daily driver, but once the seat is set, I almost never change it (just more forward or back)

for comparison, for the same money can get 2 nice corbeau seats with brackets and everything

obviously it will come down to being my decision, but what do you guys think? are they worth it or something like Corbeau would be fine?

I'm not sure yet if I really want 2 of them or 1 either; I think just 1; because if it's a pair, then definetly a pair of GT2/GT3 seats would be nicer?

I would highly recommend you go sit in the seats you choose. I made the mistake of buying a set once that I did not sit in first. Resulted in a set of very nice seats on eBay and me losing $$.

the guys that are local to me and race have said that the Cobra seats are very light and were very comfy; I do not know what seat he sat in though; but these are the guys that run RaceTech and Kirkey(sp?) seats

I'm just debating on this right now, because maybe it would be cheaper/better option just to hunt down a single GT2/3 seat instead

from what SubeSports told me, the Evolution S GT seat is just as wide as Sparco Evo 2 (or whatever the hell that new model of this seat is); so I'm looking for something to fit my lard *** into, and this COULD be the ticket

btw, nice to hear from you Chad - did you choose the rollbar yet?

If the LARD *** is the problem. Go sit in them. I am a size 38-40" waist and 6'6". I HIGHLY recommend sitting in the seats you choose before you buy.

Hahah sounds good! My waist is 40 but I'm 6'1 and 240, so yeah; according to all these "manuals" I can see online - I'm the perfect candidate for someting like a Wide version of Corbeau seat, or Sparco Evo 2

this seat is supposed to be slightly bigger then the Evo 2

and I have no way to sit in one I don't know anyone even remotly local with one of these; last I saw Jim (shiners) had a RaceTech seat or a Kirkey seat

but I can probably get a test fit into the RaceTech's 4009 ...

why would you put such an expensive seat in your car? is this a track car? for $1400 you can buy a very nice PAIR of porsche sport seats.

I would have concerns using a seat with helmet restraint without a helmet on the street. A side impact crash could cause your head to meet the restraint with considerable force. Also getting in and out of a race seat is pretty laborious for a daily driver.

there is a 1984 Guard's Red 944 for sale here for $1500 with some electrical problems, lol ... yeah

that's kind of where I am at - I'm trying to find a way to justify this; the car needs new seat(s) anyways, and I don't really like the regular seats in it right now

crooster - that's one thing I haven't thought about; so maybe this really isn't the best option for me

Looks to me like you want these seats whether or not anyone warns you off buying a track seat for a daily driver. I myself don't think I'd want to spend much traffic time in one AND they're pricey to boot. If you talk yourself into it, just don't say these guys didn't tell you so later.

lol whether I want them or not - if they are not practical for a DD , then I can always find another seat

they have other seats that I like that look like Sparco Evo's and are still made of Kevlar material

I am actually wanting more info on this: Kevlar vs. Fiberglass - is one more sturdy then another? more fragile? that's the thing

because even their Suzuka GT seat is still bigger then the Evo seat, but it's made of Kevlar and its not shaped like the evolution

so I am very open to suggestions

I really would not want to spend more then $600-700 on a seat ...

I believe kevlar is universally superior to fiberglass in all applications, but it is pricier.

that's why these are a little more expensive

so this thread is pretty much that I'm ready to get the seat(s), now, I was affraid that the Evolution would not work as nice as something that resembles a regular seat because of it's shape; however, what about the other option?

Roman, if you are looking for some nice track level seats with great support, give the Recaro SRD a try. I had them in my old BMW E36 M3. It saw track duty as well as daily driving. Very comfy and supportive and much more cost effective.

I too want some nice seats, but can't justify that much for a car that doesn't see a lot of tracktime.
Even cheap corbeaus are up there.

Good luck finding those! Recaro no longer makes them and they are getting harder and harder to find.
