what sucks is that i think i dont have the right tools to remove the oil filter... on my previous car (1992 318is) it was a metal filter I had just to unscrew the the oil filter housing and switch oil filter... my father may have the type J wrench I don't know if there is something else except the 17mm socket...

To change the oil all you need is a 15mm wrench, and one of them big oil filter sockets. I use a 3/8 wrench with a 1 ft extension and my oil filter socket.

Oh... and you'll probably need a sealing ring for the drain plug. You MAY be able to reuse the old one but it is never recommended.

When you put the filter on, make it hand tight + 1/4 - 1/2 turn.

Can I use a rubber gasket ring for the drain plug ? I have many sizes of rubber gasket rings. I don't know what is the right size for a new drain plug seal, I dont want to discover it while i'm working on the car and having to go the local part store just to buy a gasket ring hehe

my 944 N/A is a 1986 (85/9)

No. there is a metal washer. it's one of the few parts for the car that is under $1.00. $0.50 for this thing from the dealer, and they have TONS in stock.

Ya really need the metal one. it's $0.50. why are you arguing?

Also, it's a very odd size in comparison to most that I've seen...

oil change is done (i kept the old sealing ring and it still good...) there was no metal sealing ring at the store...

ill just check under the car everyday making sure there is no leak.. but everything seems to be fine. Tomorow ill do the fuel filter and i should start to think about getting the belts checked...
