The reason you need to look inside the filter is that you need an anti-drainback valve on the filter. If you are ordering a K&N filter, you won't know until you get it or if someone else has used the same filter. The oil filter sits "upside down" on the motor and the oil will drain back after the engine is shut off unless there is a good valve in it. Most filters don't have this, afaik.

You're gonna want to do some research/reading before you drive it too much and things start getting expensive

BTW, welcome to rennlist, and throw up some pics of your car when you get a chance

The only time I have ever been able to actually get 6 qt. in there is when I rebuilt my engine. I usually only end up putting in 5.5 ish, and that takes it to the top line.

I usually pour in 5 then run it a little then pour in most of the next qt.

Other way around. Most filters have an CSADV (clean side anti-drainback valve) built into them, but not all of them are easily visible and some are better than others. Without an ADV, dirty oil would contaminate the clean oil when the engine is off. Some filters use a combination ADV and RV (relief valve) using the same element.

The mahle is good. It's what pretty much everyone uses.
And yes.... it does.

If you don't know when the belts were last replaced it may be the best idea to just change them all together. But if they look obviously OK, they may be fine to leave alone.

The warning light is being caused by the oil light. Get the oil changed and go from there.

Good Call.

I think (pretty sure) the wires that Porsche **** was talking about are these:

it's the oil pressure sending unit. if your gauge is wigging out, it may be good to replace anyway. it's almost a cheap part... and of course, make sure the wires are nicely separated when reinstalling...

Looks like it, but it's definitely aftermarket.

This I know is it... it's in USD (don't know how they compare to Canada money, but meh...)

the FAE is around $35 US and the APA is around $20 and the shipping is only $9 i think im gonna go for the APA

but before ill check if there is a problem with the 2 wires that are connected to the unit... it might be just the wires..
