Default how to fix crack in dash

Hi well my history is long I had my 86 turbo in on shop for 3 months for surging and starting issues, finally i got car yesterday after paying $1400, well I was really happy until I open the door of my car and saw my dash. The shop had my car out in a kind of a front parking to the weather, probably for good time even when I left a sun shield protect-ant cap in the car that I use for it . stupid mechanic was careless my sunshade was in the trunk of car beat you never was put in place, that was bad, there where all kinds of jaguars classics 911s and 2 vintage Mercedes in same situation!out in weather of the garage of shop that place was packed! any way I saw a 3 inches crack that start by middle vents and there is a tiny one just starting by driver side vent just pssme off , because after all these months want my car in perfect shape, the car runs like champ,, but now I have this problem I know is really commend of 911 and 944, I will like to ask advise is there any sealant the you can apply to cover it and make it looks good perfect again, or someone has find a way to aplay something and sanded and match the dash , waht can be done? I don't want the carpet cover type! I was looking at the dash plastic caps in ebay for $75 but kind worry will them make it looks factory or you will notes thickness and bad finish after install, what will be cost of brand new dash and how difficult is to install it? if there other good solution to this issue thanks

-sorry but I don't want to spend 9 hrs take off dash where probably i will brake something like a/c control , wires even clusther, other trim piece and then ship it will be pain $$ and pay 900.00 at end just for repair!!I know have to be something that works, good and kind of hide the issue of visual crack that is what botter me !
just like experience i had a versace black leather jacket one day run across a nail in a wall and ripped it near shoulder part , the damage was 1 inch , one day in the tv was this kit to repair fabric and leather and stuff like that I bought it was easy like glue and then heat it and final step was apply kind of fabric piece it top for few seconds to give it the finish look! was great like new again (that was years ago and lost the kit) so wondering if something like that had been used by a member with good resoults!!I know should be something like that, vinyl repair product that will cover the cracks and if you smooth and spend good time detailing it, will match the dash and looks good again !by way my dash is black what probably be easier to hide issue-
----I was looking at this in ebay you think will work?

I've used a vinyl repair kit (not on the porsche, but on a '74 F250 pickup which suffers from the same vinyl dash cracks). I don't remember the brand or anything, but it did work well. I'd suggest looking for something similar - it was a 2-part epoxy that you put in the crack, and it had several pieces of textured material you put over your patch to give it a vinyl texture as it dries.

umm you can get the dash off quite easily without damaging anything. I got mine off in under 1 hour... I suggest having it recovered in leather, I have yet to see any thing close to a successful repair on a cracked dash.

I read somewhere on the 928 forum that someone did a repair with fiberglass bondo, then spray painted it with texture paint, and it came out well. I tried this, and it was a FLIPPIN DISASTER. So proceed at your own risk.

There used to be a company called Justdashes. The did all kinds of repo or repair work on dashes. I have not looked into them in a long time, but in my Mustang building days, knew a bunch of guys that used them. www.justdashes.com if I remember correctly.

We have a leather repair guy that comes to our shop once a week for repairs. Go to your local p-car dealership (or any high line) and ask who they use. Our guy does real good work.

silverblack, I have a friend in San Diego here that is selling 2 black dashes. They are in PERFECT condition. Not sure if you are interested in a full replacement or not, but at least the dashes look new. Let me know if you interested in the least bit
