As usual the weekend was up with Brent "working" on the RX7, but I brought my front suspension with me to the other house and tore it down and went through it, hoping to have the front wheel wells painted and front suspension on tomorrow. If all goes well, the block will be in and the car will be on the ground this week. (Minus the fuel system and a complete exhaust)

God have you ever heard of sarcasm? If you read back you'll see I've complimented him many times on the job he's doing. I was making jokes about how the car is cut up etc compared to how it was before...take it easy, dude.

Back on topic...I like how you're painting the wheelwells too...you really do want a complete job. Nice work.

Jon, they are Fabcar arms which have seen a lot of use (Cervelli's Technodyne car, then dmoffitt's, now mine). Glad to hear the bolts finally got there, I've been having issues with my local UPS lately. V2, dont worry about it, yes, I REALLY want this to be a complete job so when the new turbo motor is done I can just swap it in and be good to go.

Mike - I'm sure your'e all over this , but have you considered getting new ball joint pins and monoballs for the Fabcars? They have seen a lot of hard use. Also, I believe JLockton has longer pins for the Fabcars to correct the geometry if you are interested.

So you're swapping an NA in while you rebuild your turbo motor and then you'll switch it back?

Once you've had boost-lack, you never go back.

Skip, Dave replaced them right before I got them according to my notes. I inspected them and they dont seem to have any issues right now, but I'm definitely keeping my eye on them.

No, I sold my stock turbo motor and vitesse stuff, kept my Tec3R and fuel system. Now I've built an NA motor while I build a new 2.6L 16v turbo motor. Then I'm swapping that in for the NA which will either be sold or put into something else.

Another small update, though I'm not sure why I continually post "Small update" they all are small picture wise despite the hours upon hours I spend in the garage. heh.

Anyway...

Stripped out wheel well, with the 4 studs remaining to mount the fender liner (which I havent used in years).

So I cut all the studs off and grinded them metal fender well down flush.

Ready to paint.

A HUGE step forward.

The 968 brake scoops Ive been using in conjunction with the big ducts to the hats. Need to grab some new hardware and put those on tomorrow.

Passangers side, painted but waiting to dry.

Tomorrow I'll be installing the steering rack, passangers suspension, and front sway. Hoping to also pull the dash and start rewiring and maybe finish stripping undercoating in the rear. Big list, let's see how much I actually get done.

I love your thread, and the project... but I have to ask: do you have a day job? Where do you get all of this time?

It takes me a week just to get ready for a project!
