More vibrations
Free up HP
Less rotating mass
One less thing to fail.

But, the turbo engine I'm building will retain them.

Mike, what do you think the floor panel in the rear weighs? Just sheer curiosity of the piece of metal itself...

I honestly have no idea. I've thrown most of it away already too so I cant exactly check. The flat piece in the hatch wasnt all that heavy. But the rear seat and tire well were. The rear seat area was double walled!

Hey mike you don't happen to have the passenger side floor panel kicking around do you? Mine grew legs and walked away while my car was apart for 2 years

Mike, im dying to see what this motor puts down. What is your ETA for completion?

Also i may have missed it in the many many threads.. but what type of engine management are you using? Stock Motronic or a standalone type setup?

Dan, the metal bit that the ECU bolts into? Yeah I've got it, but I'll need to find it for ya.

Jon, I'm shooting for it to be wired up by April 6th, and other than that I need to finish the fuel system. I'm hoping we can get it up and running SOON. I've been running Tec3R from Chris White @ 944 Enhancement for almost 2 years now. We'll be doing pump and race gas tunes

How bad does vibration get without the balance shafts, and is there any way to reduce them?

The balance shafts reduce vibrations, so if you care about the ride, keep them.

Dan, I definitely have the wood part, let me find it.

Does the driving experience become noticeably harsher without the shafts? Or is it just a simple annoying vibration?

sweet...
And as for the balance shafts its not that bad without them. it shakes quite a bit more at idle but when the revs are up you can hardly notice it.

Mike, do you have a track schedule? I'd sure love to see that monster on the track when you are finished. Do you have any plans to be a Summit Point or Virginia International Raceway?

Paul, no plans for VIR or Summit this year, sticking to Canada, WGI, Ohio mostly.

What event at WGI? If it's the PCA DE in May, I'll see you there.
