Okayyyyy, time to clean the barn. It's an absolute mess, I have a chair full of tools because I havent wanted to climb back to the tool box, etc. Stuff needs to be boxed/organized, etc. It gets this bad every couple months and I'll spend a few days cleaning. A friend of mine is welding up some arms off two spare crossmembers I have so I can get the car in the air a foot or so and still be able to roll it (casters built on stuff) and get it on my trailer. It *should* be going out to get the underbody soda blasted in the next month? Finished tearing down the engine, should be taking the block and pan to get hot tanked this week. Also, I hate to disappoint those who thought I was doing this to a stock NA engine, upping the compression with late pistons

POS waterpump, the only place I snapped a bolt on this whole engine (so pissed off)

Now you see it....

Now you dont!

Cylinder walls looked MINT. My father was outside and took a look and asked if they had resleeved them

Oh yeah, and where some fool used an impact on the cam, shattered the tip of it and the woodruf key.

why delete the balance shafts? They only help the engine by decreasing friction, increase longevity of the engine by reducing the risk of fatigue failure of parts, increasing driveability,

Because, I'll take the 18lb weight loss, the 4hp gained, and the lack of extra belts for an engine I'm not going to run for more than a year. Not to mention my car isnt really a "street" car anyway. I've talked with David floyd and a few others who have run for years without any real problems. The biggest one I've heard about is snapping PS and AC tensioners.... which, I dont run, so that's not a problem. I'm replacing the oil pickup just to be safe and make sure there isnt a fatigued part there. Driveability is not changed from the people I've talked to and to be honest with the amount of vibrating my car does and the noise it produces, I wont notice anyway.

I wasnt going to post these, but screw it.

Got these babies in the mail today, have a lot of work to do in order to use them on my car though. There are 8 throttle blades, mounting is a mess, as is attaching them to anything (velocity stack or plenum wise), TPS is going to be interesting, and there is a ton of stuff to remove. Hoping to have the new intake done by next Sunday or so. Also have a set of Euro pistons coming in from Duke, combined with a milled head, we'll see how high we can get compression

how much of a taper will you be going with on those ITB's.

There is a set of ITB's being made for my honda as we speak. I went with the toyota 4throttles though. I'll post about em some time if people are interested. ITB's arent to bad to do. Honda guys do em all the time. they often ghetto em up for like 200 bucks. But lots of calculations need to be done to make em work right, or else you can experience a loss.
I can't wait for that amazing ITB curve, no more dips!

The nice thing about Honda's is MAP sensors stock. A setup sadly isnt very easy for a stock 944, though I'm working on a full setup with a plenum to interface with the stock AFM right now. Hopefully I can get that done and test it on someone's car in the next couple of months.

As for the basics, based on flow/hp, I'm a hair large at 38mm throttle bodies, but have near perfect placement of the blade (7.8") and length of the induction system(12.2"). In theory the injectors should be relocated by about 3/4 of an inch, but I'm not wasting my time. Eyal, they are 2 1/2" to 1 1/2" taper (same size as the ITB's).

Velocity stacks are here, but seeing as how my DSLR is dead..... (In all seriousness I'm really upset about this).

I'm not sure when I'll be posting photos next.

You know, instead of going thru all of this trouble, you should just consider selling your turbo and buying an N/A instead.

By the time you swap out the 951 brakes to N/A brakes, swap to the 944 header panel, bumper, valance, and fenders, you will have way too much money and time spent. Only to end up with a cobbled together N/A that won't be worth nearly as much as the real thing.

Now be a man and leave out belt covers...

BTW, have you considered installing an adjustable cam gear? It could help with timing. How about a head job, there's some hp gainable with bigger intake and exhaust valves and intake port configuring....

Tifo .

Not going all out with head work Pete. Just shaving it and playing with a dremel a bit on the intake ports/intake. Pretty sure we're going to grab a web cam though, yes adjustable cam gear is for certain.

I do have a 968 6 Speed with LSD on the way though

Oh yeah, and campack will be happy, no belt covers.

On another note, the amount of mass removed by deleting balance shafts is staggering. I'll weigh it tomorrow and report back, but I'd venture after hardware, pulley's and balance shafts it's around 15-18#'s.

I agree that is about right on the balance shafts. They are kinda goofy looking no?
