Default 944SMAX is HERE! Rennlist Discount thru 11/30/06

This is the production chip. The dyno today wasn't giving us proper A/F so we couldn't log it. And the peak HP/TQ numbers weren't quite what we had hoped for, but the torque curve against stock is quite impressive to say the least. This verifies Jesse's comments about how the car 'feels' so much better than before.

On today's dyno we gained 5HP over stock, but you can easily see that the torque curve comes in 100 RPM sooner and 2Lbs higher at 3500-4000 rpms, and holds again 4Lbs higher at over 200 rpm sooner from 4000 rpms to peak at 4500 rpm, 200 rpm before stock peak. From there the torque curve holds 4-6Lbs over stock all the way to redline. The run was to 6500 rpm but this chart only shows to 6050 for some reason, but you can see as the HP and TQ lines are leaving the chart they are spreading even farther from stock to redline. This car doesn't run out of steam.

We may go back to the dyno another day to see if we can get a good A/F reading. All in all we are very happy with the performance of this chip. We guarantee you will be too!

i'm in the majority in believing Porsche overstated the 944S power. Most stock 944S dyno charts read between 138-141whp.

And how does that compare to an N/A?

This is all OT, if we want to carry this conversation on, we need to move it to another thread.

No manufacturer states HP at the wheels. It's an imortant distinction to make when looking at Dyno numbers.

Just wondering about your remark, Jesse, since if your numbers are more accurate, the chip estimates (4-6 hp) are conserv. I was wondering the NA @ wheels to compare since I don't feel a significant difference b/w my S and a plain 944. Is this worth the money and will I feel the difference?

toyota does- my supra put down the factory #'s 235rwhp to the rear wheels that they stated. MOST do put down crank hp though.

Your 83 NA is rated at 163bhp, or if you use the same math 130rwhp. I've seen dynos on here of 2.5L NA cars ranging from 125-133rwhp. I'm going to do the NA cars but unfortunately the 82-85 models don't have socketed chips. So options on the early cars are limited. I hope to get the same results on the late NA cars as far as stretching out the power band and drivability issues with the chips I'm working on now. We'll get this S car back to the dyno once more prior to doing the MAF chip. It might just surprise us on a better day. As for the numbers, I would rather state lower expectations in peak HP/TQ and have people be pleasantly surprise when they take their own cars to the dyno.

Working on the NA and S2, both should be ready by mid November.

Regards,
Russell
