things to bring.....sunscreen, digital camera, memory sticks, USB thumbdrives, umbrella, chair, LONG pants ( if you hitch a ride on the track), cell phone chargers, helmet, stopwatch, extra long pants ( if your hitched ride is REALLY good), bicycle (if you can, to get around the infield), bug spray ( Nelson has LOTS of tire walls, aka mosquito nests), paris hilton....scratch that, DONT speed anywhere close to the track as local constables fund the retirement fund that way, telephoto lenses : there is a little tower there that is a decent photo spot, but far from the track.

I am there solo so i may need a nav for the rally, car has no A/C yet.

I just got off the phone with the regsitrar for the Nelson's Event that is there during our weekend, the Allegheny PCA. (Aug 5th and 6th) It seems they have a lot of space available. http://arpca.com/events/apps/2006_de_nelsons.pdf
If you want to pass on the gimmick rally, or want to stay around an extra day and get more track time, here is an opportunity. Note their upgraded helmet requirement from what our insurance requires. (SA2000). Tell the registrar Dan from the 944fest sent you!

Just a thought Dan, but those who come and are not doing the 944 fest track day, but spectate and then want to try it out... Perhaps they could sign on "on the spot" with the ARPCA?

I wonder if those (my) guys would be cool with that?

bob,
maybe THIS time you can see my car and we wont have to tool around in that awful 993, hahahahah. By way of explanation for others, Bob and i were gonna meet at a car thing in Indy and the night before i went, my One Lap co-driver took my car out and shattered one of the CV joints. I get home and he is looking under my car and saying....uh...i think i broke something.... ball bearings were falling out onto the driveway.....hahahahah.... you should have seen his face.

Dan, are track drivers required to wear long sleeved shirts like in PCA DE's and will instructors be signing logbooks to validate our track time? Thank you!!

Just to be safe, I will say "YES" to the long sleeve shirt issue. I haven't seen our insurance requirements but most PCA events I've been to on hot days they have been letting that slide. Bring both.

I really have no idea about log books. Many of my guys are accredited PCA instructors, and if that is all it takes to be eligible to sign a log book, I see no reason why you can't get an official sign off.

I was hoping to get out a couple of mailings with this type of info via the "update" section of the 944fest website, but since 7/17 when my domain tried to expire (since fixed) I have not been able to make the mailings or updates work. Travis, if you would please figure out what is going on there. (You da man!)

Our insurance carrier for the PCA and BMW events has eliminated the long sleeve shirt requirement - regardless of weather. However, as Dan said it will be up to our specific insurance provider for this event. I would come armed with both.

As you may guess, that will be ENTIRELY up to your guys. I know when I chatted with the registrar he was pretty concerned about the lack of students and would probably be receptive to non standard and last minute methods of increasing the cash flow.

Looking forward to seeing you folks again!!

I just finalized that have a move out to California close on the horizon (starting a new job with Garrett turbochargers), but I think I should still be able to make the fest. Fingers crossed, cause its going to take some good planning. And me getting my butt out to get the car finished. Ok, time to do that now...
