Does anyone have any suggestions for me on what to do with two mini dachshunds on Friday during the track session? I'm heading out from KC in the 951 with the dogs on Thursday, and my wife won't be flying in to CLE until Friday night around 10ish. We are going back and forth on what to do with the dogs (bring them with us for the trip or else spend about $500 boarding them while we are gone). Any suggestions? If I can find a way to have them watched while I play on Friday, I'd be *very* happy!
Regards,

Heya Scott, You crack me up, but I sympathize with your situation. I've been asked a lot of "unusual" things when putting this together, but babysitting a couple of mini-weiners is a first. I'm not sure about the track's policy on pets, but I'm sure if they allow them we could make room in the shade if they don't mind being tied up. They are sure meet a lot of friends to pet them and make sure they've got fresh H2o.

I wont be driving and aside from bumming rides will have free time. As long as the dogs can stand my beer breath I can stand their dogbreath!
P.S. I like dogs!

UPDATE: OK, folks. I'm going full tilt finalizing plans for this event. Saturday's Gimmick Rally, or Gimmally is going to be TOUGH and FUN! A clue here for those who are following along. You will need to be prepared for my challenge. A few tools that could come in handy (but not mandatory) might be a dictionary, area maps, a calculator, a cell phone to someone with internet access (DOH!) a tape measure, a GPS, etc. Those going in empty handed are going to be facing quite a challenge!
Also, if you are coming to the event and have not registered, please do so NOW. Go to the web site (http://www.944fest.com) and sign up. Even if you are just a spectator, get me your name and number of guests so I can dial in the catering bill. If you can't pay-pal the $20 right now, that is OK, I just need a fairly accurate head count. You can pay me when you arrive, OK?

Hey guys, would ya mind having a 928 or two coming out to play with you? I grew up in that neck of the woods and still live only about 35 minutes from there. A little food for thought for you; There is a Dyno about an hour away from Nelson ledges. In the future it may be possible for you to schedule a dyno day and still do your run on the same weekend. For those worried about breakdowns, feel free to call me if you have problems. I have a huge number of tools and I am not afraid to use them. Also, Steinels Autowerks is close by and he knows 944's. I also have a tandem axle car hauler trailer should all else fail. If anyone needs picked up at Cleveland Hopkins, I could help out there too. PM me for my cell number if you think you might need it.

Jack, all front engine Porsches are welcome at the 'Fest. You will be amazed how many of us like to drool over cars with TWICE the displacement and 100% of the heritage! Your offers of wrenching, rides and assistance are most gracious! If my usual wrench, Autobahn Extremist, isn't there, some of Eric's guys sure will be! We will have a dyno running Friday, if you are refering to Dyno Steve I've worked with him before too.
I'm looking forward to meeting you!

OK, guys..here is some more info. I'm going to publish my lists of attendees for the track days. I tried to send e-mails to those who paid, but I didn't keep up with it very well. If there is an asteresk by your name, I have the payment. Those in the "I" group will have a student to "mentor". I know you are not all full fledged instructors, we will keep a close eye on it. All of the "I"s have a lot of experience to share. If you would rather not be a mentor, let me know. The "A"s are advanced drivers, in the fast run group, but not mentors. The "N"s are Novices and have classroom time and a coach to help them through the day.
There are a couple of guys who are on "maybe" status. I'd rather not scratch out the names if there is any chance you can still show up. A few of you, this may be the first notice that you are in. Send in the cash please if you don't have a *. Also, don't go painting these numbers on your car, they may change a bit. Those with a /? that means there is some doubt about your participation. Let me know when you know for sure either way. Remeber, the $100 gets you a track day, about 4 meals, beverages, prizes, camping, the gimmick rally, and all the other fest activities. If a track driver is bringing a guest, the guest needs a spectator admission and will get all the perks except track time.
Here we go: (see post #2)
