Well it only took two days, about an hour for the rear shocks. and then about four hours to figure out how to do the first front shock and then only one and a half hours to finish the second.
Here are a couple shots of the rear shocks being replaced.
The tube that your new konis sit in was the "shock" before. Now it's just a housing for your konis which conveniently sit inside of it. If you cut open your konis they would look similar to what you pulled out of the strut originally. afaik.
Oh and btw why did oil drain out when i removed the cap that holds the shock in the tube?
Because it is recommended that you put some oil, ATF or antifreeze inside the strut tube to aid in heat dissipation. Approximately 3 tablespoons full.

That is true only of the struts from the 86 951 and 87 944 on. Earlier rebuildable struts from the 83-86 944 and 924S use strut inserts - these do not have to be cut-n-drilled like the later models.
I need to do this before I get my alignment, but I don't even have a vise anymore!
That aside, can you put Boge or Sachs cartridges in the front tubes or do you have to use Konis?
