Matt, I'm 99% sure its going to work. Even if our inital design and fitment don't work, i'm not giving up lol. The only other concern I have right now is how we're going to tie the bulbs into the light harness. I'm sending an email to Dan (iceshark) as i type.

Michelle,
Its a good ideal and it may look/work better but its going to be alot more work and alot more expensive.

Wes, I can put together a wiring diagram for relaying the main lights for you. A full iceshark kit would of course be perfect, but I did essentially the same on $50 of off the shelf bits. Not quite the quality of Dan's, but certainly a trillion times better than standard!

Wes has a couple wiring problems. He is going with a 4 headlamp system so needs to be able to have dipped and main beams on at the same time. And he has 65 watt H9s for a total of 260 watts. No way is the headlight switch going to last long with that load. So he will need some supplemental wiring scheme no matter what.

Then there is the issue of how long you want things to last and how well they perform. In small quantities it is hard to get the parts I use. I can't build a headlight harness unless I do 25 at a crack. Even then I have extra parts. So, one or two offs are always a compromise on performance and life unless you have some source you can steal the parts from.

Fair nuff. I know my harness is built from parts that aren't upto the standard that you build by any means. But it will be better than 15 year old wiring, and doesn't rely on a high load though the switch. My offer was just to get him running on beams that would take the load out of the switch!

Michelle,
What lights are you going with? I like the 3000gt

Hmmm, maybe if enough people are interested; Iceshark could make up some "universal" wiring for 4 headlamp systems.

My brother's a 3000GT nut, and from what he says their headlights are hardly desireable. They come with OE projector lenses, but they almost always have serious condensation issues that can't always be remedied. I guess their build quality is comparable to our rear hatches. Supposedly the '99 ones are fine, but they also have 'bubble' lenses and integrated turn signals, so probably not as desireable for our cars.

darnit

Thanks for the heads-up on this. Those are the exact problems I was hoping to avoid by using a factory headlight assembly.

Oh, I understand what you are saying.

The rub is considering all the labor involved in chasing down the parts and building the harnesses, parts costs start to take a lesser importance in the big picture so may as well go first class on them.

Similar to doing a clutch job on our cars. You are a fool not to change out the rear main crank seal and all the clutch bearings once you finally get in there.

Wes first needs to get fitment sorted out and looking good. Wiring issues can be solved once you are that deep into the project.

Also looking at the 3000GT lights, they look right on that car, but I think they would look very out of place on a 944. Any ideas on a good OE setup that would look good on our cars as well? Although probably very price prohibabive, I think the Lamborghini Diablo lights would work well with our cars

Edit: smaller pic

Diablo lights are Z lights. Just a FYI. take a look at both closely, same exact unit.

Matt,
The 55w ones or the 100w ones? I don't think the wiring will handle the 100w ones lmao.

100Ws, they are from Dan. They were for my E34 but since it belongs to some wrecking yard now, I have no need for them, the new car has Xenon.
