For a Pantera maybe because the styling is so crazy and aggressive anyway. For a 944 with its more elegant and subtle flowing lines? Never.

When I see that kind of an "upgrade" on a car like that Pantera, I have to wonder. Looking at the 'before' pics, it obviously has el-cheapo sealed beam headlights. For improved lighting, the first thing I would try if I had 7" round lamps would be top-notch E-code lamps, improved wiring, and improved H4 bulbs. That seems to suffice for 99.9% of the people with vintage cars who want to see better.

I think it is safe to say that this Pantera guy did it just for the "bling" factor, trying to be cool. Very chintzy. Nothing looks trashier than when people try to cosmetically "update" vintage cars by tacking on modern equipment, especially when you put something trendy on modern Asian cars onto an Italian car 30 years its predecssor...

Poor Pantera...

We'll Iceshark and I have been exchanging emails. I'm going to pick up a pair of 90mm Hella's, not HID and go from there. (Only beacuse of cost.. HID is very very expensive) I also have some stuff up my sleave for covers, just have to get things worked out and find someone willing to manufature it for me.

Very nice Wes. Good luck. BTW, off topic, but does anyone know max wattage stock wiring can handle on headlights?

About what's on the car! some would say not even that! The routing is not the most efficient thing the Germans ever came up with. By far the best thing to do is to upgrade the wiring (totally shameless plug for Dan's upgrade.....)

Yeah, you can't even drive normal 60/55 watt bulbs very well with the stock wiring. You have to replace it to really solve the problem.

Sad fact, but true.

Wes,

I'm not sure that will work on the same horizontal for the Hella 90mm. The mounting ears will screw you up and you will be too wide. If you stagger them then they will fit.

See if Matt H. will lend you a set of the lenses I got for him so you have the real deal in your hands for fitment. Or I can get a dipped and main beam drop shipped to you if you want to spend the cash.

Dan,
Thats what I was thinking as well. I sent Mike (my friend) the documentation from hella's website on how big the lights are ect. We can modify the design more if need be.

I PM'd Matt, but no response as of yet.

the supra guys used to install HID lights that were very short and the headlights would only flip up a few inches vs. the 6 or more inches the factory lights flip up, but this would be harder on a 44
