Ok...it's been 2 weeks or so. I don't feel too bad nagging you for a progress update I'm driving around with no headlights, so I'm hoping you'll have something soon (soon = few weeks?) for us. Otherwise I have to make em myself, and I don't have a clue where to start with the wiring stuff! I can handle fab work, and I know which lights to buy...but that wiring...shudder.

Trevor,
I wish i could be of some assistance. However, i'm still knee deep in training here at work and won't be able to get to the for at least 2-3wks. Yes they will get done, but not for at least 3wks.

Iceshark has offered to help me with the wiring, what needs fixed for sure? That i do not know. If you have any questions let me know or talk to Iceshark.

Sorry guys, sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.

I hear ya. I don't remember reading about this, but do you know if making glass covers is feasible? I suppose I'll go ahead and order the lights, and start making my set here, and also get in touch with Dan when the time comes...If you end up getting a mold made for glass covers/lenses, I will DEFINATELY buy some of those! Who knows, maybe I'll get bogged down with crap and end up buying the whole thing from you. Let's hope not Driving in the dark is hard!

Trevor, just an Fyi the headlights are shorter on the NAs than on the turbos. That is unless I am mistaken.

I would think so if you have enough guys to make a run. The big deal would be how you are going to mount the cover (attach it) as well as maintain the original optics of the headlights.

When I first thought about doing this, some 5 years ago, and concluded it was never going to fly if you did it right due to cost, I talked to some local art glass blowers who really knew glass. They thought they could make it work.

But forming the glass and doing it right gets sort of expensive on the small scales you are talking about. It would be easier to do lexan covers and just change them out every so often when they scratch up and start to milk from UV attack.

The bottom line is this is not so easy to pull off as you would first think sitting over a beer and dreaming.

Well Wes, you'd better hurry up. I'm getting itchy-credit-card fingers. After all the slating they've had, I'm considering a GT kit (or maybe a v-zweeden kit once i've costed everthing up properly) . I think I can live with lexan covers that have to be replaced every so often ( and I run 100w in the driving lights anyway!), and when I spoke to them the other day, they said that they have imprived and included a set of mounting brackets which make it easier to fit. (I'll believe it when I see it)

To be honest, I don't mind a bit of fibreglassing to fill up any dodgy gaps, and I think I'll mount an ally plate on the backside and mount some hellas rather than the sealed beam units they supply with a full kit. That way I can get them a bit higher too. (maybe to get rid of the wasted light created by the lip on the header panel).

All this talk, and the thread over in the 951 forum on a new design of flip-ups got me thinking again. I hate it when that happens!

How about modifying a 993's ellipsoid to suit the 944/951. I know the 10degree angle will be a challenge, but I think our cars' will appear to the car gawkers as tight?

Ha.. Not dead. I said I would finish these and I will. My friend that designed them is going to knock out the first set here soon.
