"But whatever you do, if you post it on a forum, you will get other peoples opinions. That isnt bashing. Pointing out facts, and alternatives is not bashing."
Wow, I agree with Tom on something....never thought that would happen.

I couldn't find the page where the compression resuslts were listed, but it seems obvious the car is dead and needs a rebuild. I could tell that from the video alone. hehe.

Anyway...I won't flame you or bash you in any way, I will just speak from my own mistakes and experiences.

If you have the time, desire, $$$money$$$, and determination to fix the engine right...go for it!

If you're gonna have to eat Top Ramen for the next 5 years to help offset the cost of the rebuild, if you're in school, or if you don't have a clean, organized place to do the work...it may be wise to let it go or part it. I know that's not what you want to hear, but wasting too much money and time on cars in the past has cost me many missed opportunities in life, including a relationship where the girl got sick of it. And there will ALWAYS be other cars out there. Of course, I guess one could argue that there will always be other girls out there too. And sometimes the girls cost less to maintain...

...but I digress. Best of luck with the car! I've been in your shoes one too many times!

Get a job at a Porsche-Audi dealer, then you'll see a bit more people with cars the don't deserve. Ever see a 6 hr old Carrera with the block cracked and the oilpan ripped off?

Rock,

My 86' NA shattered the #4 cylinder when a valve snapped off, bounced in the cylinder before desintegrating the piston, spewing billows of black smoke and vomiting oil and coolant through the intake. The timing belt was fine. The thermostat was shot and overheated twice the day before. the radiator was rendered a static mineral deposit collection. The head had tons of small rusty pittings and the gasket was holier than thou. I think a combination of prolonged electrolysis discharge, and hot internals created a weak link to blow with a bang.

I must agree. when I worked at teh local Porsche dealer, we had a 996 come in UNDER WARRANTY with a snapped crankshaft... PCNA came out to determine the cause, determined it was abused, and made the guy fork up the cash for a new engine... the car was 4 months old..

Rock,

I experienced almost the very same thing, before I was blessed by the Boost Gods. Before you even begin to analyze, service or test this car - carefully assess EVERYTHING it needs to bring it back up to safe operating condition, regardless of cost. Write your findings down to begin prioritizing the specific order you will accomplish the necessary tasks in. If you need engine parts - let me know. Always drain all fluids prior to commencing work. Once you gain the valuable experience from actually finishing something- you will enjoy the efforts, and begin to love the car's awesome abilities. In fact, your boost habit will replace alot of unhappiness in your life now. Forget Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil- My 951 is the best anti-depression therapy I can buy. Welcome to Boost....bro!
