I'd just love to see more members and I glean the channels pretty well for inexpensive Porsche's .
If I'm an assclown I'd hate to see what you call others who are lesser.

I almost bought a 951 for 2K...
From a junkyard, needed SERIOUS body work, frame was straight, no clue if it ran, front passenger side A-arm shattered when it was sideswiped...
other than that, it had everything I wanted in a car...

Here is what $1380 got me...
Back in August when my 944NA blew up again- I decided a 951 is what I need to get instead. I found a running fixer locally in Craigslist, asking $1800. The PO said it had oil/coolant leaks, and had starting and running problems. He was almost certain the engine was on its last legs. I saw it and found out the engine was not tired, but needed a new DME relay only. Obviously, I did not tell the PO that. Clenching a fistful of hundreds- I was able to talk him down to $1380...the entire contants of that fistful.
Since replacing the DME- this car in its bone stock form, has almost no lag due to finding the receipt of the replacement KKK K/26BB ball bearing turbo. The purchase also included a new K/26...still in the box! I have fixed alot of minor issues the car had, including the belt changes(the old belt was the original 40k one!). I got the sunroof, power mirrors, rear lights, and seat working again too. The only remaining items left are to reupholster the front seats, and replace the dashboard. Following that- the engine mods come next. Otherwise- this car has been good to me from the day I bought it and drove it home.
Below are pix of the car. The first, is one when I drove it home. The second is a recent one after being washed/waxed. Her name is Portia. Sometimes your best purchases are ones you never comtemplated. Initially, I wasn't intending to get another car- my daily driver is a 2001 BMW X5. But after realizing I was getting a 185k 951 for the impossible price of $1380....spending a weeks' pay
makes it an exception!
My point is- finding a sub $2k 951 is very possible....having the cash in your posession, and being at the right place at the right time, also helps.

This is going to upset some of you guys. Someone I know in Ventura bought a running, driving, straight 951 red/blk with clean interior for $2.6k and drove it home. All he needed was to replace the pan gasket because it leaked pretty badly. Another guy I know bought another 951 in Santa Monica AND a 85.5 944 for 3.2k and drove his 951 back home. It is possible around here but they don't come up very often.
I bought this 89 951S this year WITH EVERYTHING YOU SEE IN THE PICTURES for $2000 from a original owner rennlister with 80k miles. The car ran and drove but has a cut coolant hose and cannot be driven too far. There was thousands of $ in engine work done including a bigger turbo, head studs, balance shaft delete, etc.

Frank,
You bought another TurboS??
How soon after the headgasket wrenching meet did you pick one up?
Are you parting it or repair/resell? I'm interested in those centercaps if you do part
