If this is the way you feel (and LOTS of people do) why are you even on an enthusiast web board?

A car is technically just a mode of transportation but by that thinking we could all drive identical econoboxes, one color, one maximum governed speed, etc. Personally, I'd ride a horse before I'd drive "just a car"...

for 2K try a nice Toyota..

Really- if you want a basketcase and are qualified mechanically and financially able to afford fixing it, by all means do it.

You'll be doing a lot of searching in "parts cars" and may be able to get 2 and cobble 1 together for about 3 grand. Dont tlet others put you off- this can be done. Expect to have another 2 grand lying around for incedentals as well.

Instantly you are up to 5 grand. - hence the attitude you may seem to be getting.

Save your money and buy a nicer example. I have been looking at "cheap ***" Porsches for a track project for well over a year and I cant find a worthy NA in the 2 grand pricepoint. (Without dumping another grand or so on transportation to the Midwest)

I'm lucky enough to be surrounded by extremely talented people in the SOW and I did buy an "under 2 grand 944" a year ago- but had to give up the project. It's bad enough keeping up with PM on 1 Porsche let alone 2.

SO.. the question is - Can you buy a 2000 951? , the answer is of course yes. Would you want one? the answer is all you. Salvage title and half alive( if running at all )and a very hard life- youre probably at your 2K 951.

Best of luck whatever you decide. Dont let the purists say it cant be done- it can. but plan on spending a lot of time, money and effort to make it roadworthy.

That's MY .02 worth.

And 944J, ANYTHING can be repaired, but it would have taken a couple grand in parts just do the body work, new radiator, 2 new fenders, new Left strut, new hood, new headlight assemblies, new headlight bar, new turbo bumper, new radiator fans, new blinkers, new fog light, new header panel, new radiator expansion tank. If you want to try and find individual prices on all that stuff, i think you would quickly find that you are up to about 4k just to have a repaired car. But i guess in your book that is ~2k. Oh plus body shop time to fix the frame.
I asked if the frame was bent... if its bent then I wouldnt do it...

The body parts could be pulled with a stud gun...

see you guys are talking about paying labor instead of fixing things yourself...

Your going to pull the plastic bumper with a stud gun?
Even at a used CHEAP price, those body parts are going to 1200-1800.
Good luck.........lol

Hey Karl, ME!!>?? I'd happily try to locate one, and pass it along. to anyone who would want it (Not me I have LOOKED at 2K 944's and couldnt imagine what a basket case a 2K 951 would be)

That's it- Scott I'm gonna HAVTA comne down ther NOW!

I'd just love to see more members and I glean the channels pretty well for inexpensive Porsche's .

If I'm an assclown I'd hate to see what you call others who are lesser.

FWIW- I have driven Andy's turbo'd NA, the "Black Beast" to and from 944Fest this year, and It's amazing-

Thanks Andy- for doing what everyone said was madness.

BUT -- KEEP THIS IN MIND- Andy IS a Porsche god.
