If the car is low and running some camber this can be done, i bought two sets of 996 turbo wheels, one for my 964 and for a 44

11'' wide, 295 tires

Test fitted on my friends 951 awhile back and it looked great

I would like to know what specs you are running in the rear, as well as what set-up. The 996TT rear wheels are around 45mm offset in the rear IIRC. Late cars usually require somewhere in the 50s and up into the 60s. (My cups were 55 and my RUFs are 61) What most people run into is sidewall hitting fender, but I don't know if they experience issues inside. I suppose if you dial in enough camber, they will run, but I don't know what the limit is for camber in the rear. The sidewall of that rear tire looks awfully close to the fender, did you actually go out and drive it on various roads to check that nothing was rubbing?

Was bumming around flickr and I took this picture of the '83 a year or so ago. Not the most beautiful but nice.

Now it is getting neglected because of the turbo.

It's not a 944, but here's a quick picture of my 924S with my buddy's C6 Vette

Default 3 of my water cooled Porsches! Red Turbo is my favorite so far

1984 NA 944 Dark Blue/Brown and it's unfortunate fiery end. Beautiful one owner car all original. Simple and slow but friendly and fun to toss. Sad to see it end that way.

1992 968 Grand Prix White/Dark Blue. Nice civilized high speed cruiser but Tip just made it hard to love

1986 951 Red/Black. Love that it looks factory original and is mostly but with Weltmeister springs, bars, chips, Konis, freshly rebuilt Turbo, it's got just enough edge to be a kick in the ***. Boost is addictive! I LOVE THIS CAR!

Almost makes me forget my funny (air cooled??? rear engine???) 1988 Dark Blue/Dark Blue 3.2 Targa. ...almost.

What happened to your 1984 n/a? Was that a fuel line leak?

Default 944 burn

Not sure...not enough left to tell but that was fireman's guess. It went up FAST! It sputtered and coughed then ..whoosh. Flames were licking out from hood by windshield. Fully engulfed in 5 minutes. I said to fireman that I should have had an extinguisher. He said sometimes yes... IF it's small and you can catch it. BUT and they emphasized this the best thing to do is GET AWAY FROM ANY BURNING CAR. It's not just the possibility of an exploding gas tank. Windows, airbags, and tires explode and all shocks become lethal missiles. As the flames were raging the rear bumper blew across the road about 50 ft. Shortly after the front bumper did the same and ignited a small grass fire. Firemen have been killed by hood and deck lid shocks exploding and shooting right through them. They took the exploded bumper shocks for training newbies to approach from an angle-never directly front or rear. It was a scary thing and a real shame to watch that beauty die like that. I feel lucky that I wasn't hurt.

Glad you are ok!
But just a fyi. I don't think this car is a very good candidate anymore for "Who has got the most beautiful Porsche 944 here???" Love the 11 too!!!

cpcca, thanks for posting those -- I would never have thought of anything other than the fuel tank exploding in a burning car, but the missing bumpers on yours are a very clear sign of what happens!

(Also, that red car is beautiful!)

Default Aren't they all beautiful?

Thanks for the kind words. Not the most beautiful? HA! Guess not huh? More beast than beauty I guess now. What occurs to me is none of my Porsches are the most beautiful compared to some of the magnificent machines out there (like that 944 Gembella Cab-SWEET) but every Porsche I've owned from the 1st rusty 66 beetle with a 356 transplant to my 73 911 that I could see the top of the tire through the rusted fenders to my current 951 has seemed like the most beautiful Porsche to me. There is a thrill Just seeing it in my driveway and thinking "WOW that's really my Porsche? Wow!". And it never gets old. I just love to stare at it and smile. Nuts I know. Kinda like kids. I love them all (Well sometimes...). Somebody once said there are no "slow" Porsches some are just faster than others. I feel the same about the looks. There are no ugly Porsches some are just more beautiful than others.

holy effin' crap. sorry for your loss. that's horrible. a man lost his life in a perfectly running 944 in 2009, when he couldn't get out in time. same cracked fuel hose.
