Started it up this morning... ![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
It was smokey and rough, but running is running.
One coolant leak where I forgot to put a clamp on (the hose slid on as the radiator went in and I forgot about it)...but otherwise looks solid!
Now to put 1000 breakin miles on it by saturday...and get an alignment (maybe install new front struts) and put the bumper/nose panel on... Oh, and tech inspection for DE sometime this week.

Congrats on a successful rebuild (fingers crossed, no jinx!)! Smoke was assembly lube burning off?

Fastest trip to Montana I've ever taken.

Congrats!!
Don't do a lot of highway driving during the break in unless you vary your speed. I've always heard that it's not good to keep the engine at a steady rpm during break in.
How much did the whole rebuild cost you? I'm planning one myself in a year or two.

Thanks for the remarks... It does feel good to see it move from the garage again....and under its own power too!
The rebuild ended up costing me way too much...I may add it up some time if I'm bored.
Just put ~40 miles on it, runs great...very smooth now with 18 in Hg of vacum at idle.
I have an oil leak from somewhere at the back of the engine. My first thought was "oh ****, RMS"... but upon further inspection I can see a trail leading up the side of the bellhousing. So it COULD still be RMS, but there is something else going on too). My second guess is cork seal on the rear of the cam tower, but its too hot right now to feel around right now... My fingers are crossed though.

Good job! I remember the feeling all the time...its funny we now comprise the upper 1% of the rat race who can successfully assemble, and start an automobile engine, using basic shop tools!
