i saw a dodge diesel do that, he had to take off in third gear to get going, but he ran about the same time. i would say that was a turbo diesel.

the way i look at it, if it runs 11 seconds, getting smoked by it isnt that embarrasing. Now if it ran 15's and you got smoked by it, THAT is embarrasing.

It is. Did you see the black smoke at the end?

I would hazard a guess that there are as many (percentage-wise) Dodge/Cummins rolling around w/ 700 lb-ft of torque as there 951's w/ 300 hp. Probably same for Fords.

I mean, my Dodge came dead stock w/ 500+ lb-ft. I've got a six-speed manual, and I can start in 3rd gear w/ no gas all day long, 4th gear if you're really concentrating. Mods are cheaper on them than Porsche's, too, until you start frying transmissions (doesn't take long on an automatic).

I saw, I think it was the show Trucks on Spike TV the guy took a diesel and put a Propane, and nitrous, plus chip, and exhaust. I think they got an extra 400hp out of it. The reason they could throw so much at the truck was because diesel can run at much higher compression. Insane.

Well, since we're on the topic, this should elicit some drool.

Cummins 24V ISB engine ('98.5-'02 Dodge Ram turbodiesels) with an ungodly twin turbo setup (they're usually a single turbo). Stock HP is 245 at the flywheel, with all the appropriate mods this will hit 600 HP at the wheels).

Oh, yeah, they run 51 psi of boost

When I bought my '04 F250 the guys at the dealership were trying to tell me all the things I could do to it to hot-rod it. Hot rod diesels are all the rage it seems. I had a guy in here a couple weeks ago with an F250 4x4 with an 8" lift and 35" tires, and with his mods said he could spin all four tires as far as he wanted. Get a load of this - 5:18 gears! Said he was going to lift it higher and go to 42" tires. Sick.

The Ford Turbo Diesels run very low turbo pressure, turn that puppy up and you can make a stock truck (Chevy/Ford) run into the 13s with less than 600 bucks. I had a friend in Bahrain with a 900HP Chevy C3500 dually. It would eat up pavement. Nasty!!

I am going to look at a diesel VW for the same reason, they can be made quick cheap.
