Did you put on the low temp thermostat?

Using a stock thermosswitch for the fans.
I did a second bleed and got a stubborn air pocket out. Seems to have done the trick. Fans come on right before third line now and cools the car right down. Hopefully charging the AC next week.

...but there's a few different temperature thermostats, I prefer the lowest one for the Turbo...

It's been hotter than hell here and it stays below the red even in spirited driving. Did a local car show on Sunday and it was flawless to drive.

Happy to report another milestone. I now have working air conditioning. Enjoyed a 30 mile ride the other day in cool comfort!!
Looks like it's time to move on to my 79 928 project.

Other than the condenser, were there any other aftermarket components used?

On my 928s, I typically can get around 35 degrees out the vents on an average 85 degree day. I would guess this is going to be more around 40 degrees.

I replaced the condenser, receiver/dryer and all the o rings. Compressor is original. Used 26 oz of R134a. I haven't measured the temp output yet but it seems very comparable to my modern R134a cars. It was mid 90s and high humidity outside on my 30 mile ride. I will get my IR thermometer on it soon.

The car is looking as incredible as ever! Glad to hear that you were able to get your air conditioner working! That's a huge step. Mine has never worked in my 944 and I've had the car for more than 10 years. Just never dove into it. Well done sir!

Thank you so much!! Its funny, I have a 1979 Trans Am that was restored years ago, just never charged the A/C. Now 21 years later, I am thinking of diving back into it. A/C was never important to me, now I kinda like having the option available to use!

The fun for me has always been the hunt, the acquisition and the rehab. This was my SIXTH project Porsche since 2018, its time to do my 79 928 and get my 997 back into the garage.
