NC, VA, TN Rally in North Central NC
It's going forward- we will have a rally/drive in the mountains of Stokes County, NC (due north of Winston Salem) on Saturday, Feb 28. While this is an unofficial PCA event, members of our club should be showing up. We've also invited some of the Ferrari Club to come along as well. It will start at about 8:30 from Rural Hall and go through the morning. We'll end up at a place to have a late lunch. There will be photo op stops along the way. Please email if you are interested so I can put together a list to keep everyone informed about the status. We've had some bad weather up there recently and it's not unusual to have black ice conditions on some of the roads on the north slopes. First leg has about 19 twisty signs and I'm sure you'll get a kick out of the route.

Keep me informed, please. Probably not in the '44, but def interested, as the wife is out of town that weekend.
If nothing else, post the route, as I am always looking for good roads, for the cars and the bike.

I would love to participate, I have another thread that I am trying to get people to do the same thing. If you could give me directions to where you are meeting that would be great. My e-mail is rlherman64@hotmail.com.
Thanks a lot, and I hope that it works out.

Another Shameless Promotional Bump!!!!
I hear lots of chatter about "let's do a drive" or "the PCA doesn't do anything much besides wine and cheese car shows". Well, here's your chance to strike a blow for those of us who like driving events and don't care whether or not it ends at a winery or a 5 star restaurant. We'll be leaving from Rural Hall, NC and going through the twisties of Stokes County NC. For those not familiar with NC geography, Stokes County is about in the middle of NC, smack up against VA. Well you might ask,"Is it in the mountains?" You bet your sway bars it is. I don't think there's three flat acres in the whole county. Stokes is also the only county in the US to have the distinction of having it's own seperate, self contained mountain range- the Sauras. It's the home of Hanging Rock State Park, and there are lots of roads with major twisties. A short drive north will put you on the Blue Ridge Parkway in VA. So, yes, it is in the "mountains" just not the Smokies.
The rally itself is a "gimmick" rally, meaning it's not a TSD. It will be a poker rally with the highest hand winning the honors. Ties will be broken with a trivia list based upon features of the drive. So, not only will you have to be keeping the shiny side up, you'll have to pay attention to where you are as well. If this goes well, we'll probably make it an annual event for those of use who's cars aren't winter garage queens. If the Ferrari guys can show, I think we should get some Porsche guys for sure.
PM or email to-- Dave951m@hotmail.com for details. Exact directions to the start and any other info will be following during the next week. Final details to be emailed on Sunday. Don't let your Porsche be a garage queen, come on down for the first ever Cabinfever CannonBall.

I'll be there. I know the roads your talking about and they do change direction and elevation with frightening regularity at times. Not a straight and flat road in the county I think. Does this end with the 'hill climb' at Pilot Mtn. or Hanging Rock?

I don't think I'll get my clicking CV's repacked in time for this one, but I spent January and February of last year working in Rockingham County and took a drive up to Hanging Rock State Park just for kicks one day in the 951. Great twisties and beautiful scenery!
