Mike I hope you aren't implying that we've become too civilized when we got a Wendy's.
I was thinking about having a trivia observation part for the rally, like-
how many signs with bullet holes
how many tobbacco barns
how many trailers (segregated by single and doublewides)
how many cars on blocks
number and kinds of roadkill
on what road was the 66'Stang with the 4x4 conversion (I know that one!)
Welcome to Stokes County Yeeeha!!!!

I am sad to say I will be a 'no go' for the King event on Sat - doesn't it figure - you get the new stereo and blau speakers installed on Sunday... and Monday.....tagged an animal coming across the Interstate this afternoon- wrecked the right front fender, lights, and coolant was pouring out of the car when I got stopped.... Damage? Un known amount at present....but the nicest (stock) early 944 around these parts is now the ugliest...

Dave - not having a lot of luck reaching you via email, but I see posts here by you this pm so I assume you are alive....Thanks for the effort on the spares but I found enough of them to move the car...I may be looking to drop, er, lift one of your snazzy aluminum torque tubes (free plug for you there) into the S2 project while I've got the engine out. If I could find a freaking set of head studs I would have it running by the drive this weekend. BTW, all jinxing aside, the weather may indeed not be with you....thanks Al

Dang if you guys weren't so far away, I'd be tempted to come over and join you for the run.....I missed a PCA one (a nearly free one, btw) up into Kentucky on the 14th of this month as my CVs were clicking and at this point as many miles as they have, I'm also just replacing the whole axles and all the joints. Hoping mine will be here today.
Unfortunately you all are just a bit far to meet at 9AM in the morning! It's nearly an hour from here to Asheville....I'd have to be up and on the road by like 5AM to make it!

That depends on where in East TN you are. I travel to Memphis and Nashville fairly often. From Bristol, it's about 2 hours to the rally location. Check into going north through Wytheville, back down 77 to 74 cut over to NC52. I don't go through Asheville unless I can't do it any other way.

Its just not possible to have snow in NC this weekend. There is absolutely no way that could happen.

You know that I can give you bad weather Dave. I proved that over Christmas. But seriously, I hope everything works out well. Good Luck.

Okay...closer than I thought then...depending on "about 2 hours" being above or below, I could sleep an extra hour
I live a few minutes outside of Bristol....I used to live not too far from Wytheville and yeah, I didn't look up the exact location, but I was figuring easier to go by Asheville but I guess not. I-26 now open through there really helps a lot going from here to Asheville though.
If any of you guys are going to be through the area anytime, drop me a PM and what time you'll be through the area and maybe we can grab lunch or something. It's soooo boring around here a lot of the time. PCA club here did one drive last year....and almost nothing else.

Bristol to Rural Hall via Asheville is like NYC to LA via Bejing. Wayyyy long way around. I just came through there last week and will be headed through again soon. Easiest route is 81N to 77S to 74E to NC52S and should take a shade over 2 hours driving at the legal limits. If you leave out about 6:30, you can make it easily. It'd be a long day, well spent.
Andrew- you wouldn't happen to know who owns the 2 944s I see every time I come through just off 81? They're on the north side of the road in Virginia I think. I've seen a white one and red one, both seem to be 951s but when flying by at 70+, it's hard to look off to the side any distance and be sure if they're not S2s.

Ok guys, looks like we have some very positive response from the Ferrari club. PCA guys are coming too. Looks like it's going to be a blast.

I took a look at a map....you are right. I'd say a bit over 2 hours. Takes me about 25 minutes to get to I-81 (which is kind of sidetracking it and puts me on at Exit 3 in VA if I'm heading north on 81), then it's about an hour's drive up to 77S. I used to live in Galax, so when I saw 52 on the map, I remember it well. Concrete expansion joints.....ker thump, ker thump, ker thump, down past Pilot Mountain. Only driven that road twice, once down it and once back, but rode it several times with my family when I was about 15. Winston Salem was the closest place to do any real shopping. Hopefully everything comes in and I get it all installed without any problems this week. If so I am really going to try and make it. Especially for the group it sounds like is forming up.
If you are talking about in the houses just as you get into VA, I'm really not sure who they belong to. I have seen them sitting up there but I haven't had a chance to just cruise up into that neighborhood and see. I have been to several places near the interstate when I was looking at 944s, but that is one that I haven't gotten over to yet. Be pretty hard to tell a 944T from an S2 though from very far away I would think. I did run across one coming down near to exit 7 one day....turned out to be an S2 and we smiled and waved and we got off there at Wal-Mart and talked for a bit. He lives up into VA about 40 minutes off into neverland.
Rezoom isn't too far off the interstate at exit 69, probably 3 1/2 miles. He often has some neat toys up there. That's where I got to see my first 996 GT2 at.....I nearly fell in the floor when I realized what it was! Don't go there if it's wet though....you'll have to wash your car when you leave.
