Well folks, just when I thought things were gonna pick up for me, the other shoe drops. A month ago, the left one squashed me on the head when I "found the one I want" and also found she had someone.

Today, the right one drops and my employer quickly drops me. As of 12:00pm, I am unemployed. After 5 years of "being one of the best human asset in the cluster", as said by our General Manager, they send me packing with a small box of my personal belongings and severance pay.

Not sure where I am gonna go now, but the search began at 12:01.

Luckily, managing a large radio station taught me pretty much every aspect of running a business, except how to let it go.

Everything does happen for a reason... however, this is not a great time for it to happen. I just (and I mean JUST) bought a car and signed a lease on a home. Add in the debt that I owe on the 951 and it's gonna be very tight for quite some time.

Luckily, I am one who can fall in my own **** and come out smelling like a rose, most of the time.

Their loss is far greater than mine, I can assure you of that.

i dont have any connections, but i know that the radio and television stations here in columbus are almost always hiring people.

if you want me to get some phone numbers or anything for you, let me know. if you want me to go to the stations to get info i can do that too, as i live about 5 mins away from 4 different local tv stations, and about twice as many radio stations.

let me know man, i'd be more than happy to help out. and if you are ever up here looking, let me know, and you'll have a place to crash.

David - It would appear I have lots of time on my hands now. Perhaps I'll chit chat with that connector supplier and see if we can work a deal.

Harry - I have connections all over the place, however, I am somewhat pondering a career change, or at least an employer change. I have a better chance of lighting a firecracker in my *** and landing on the moon than busting into a new market in a management aspect. Cut throat to say the least!!!

Nice timing on part of your former employerwith Christmas about a month away. That's just plain dirty.

On the other hand if that's the way they treat people you are defintely better off somewhere else.

I work next door to the local WB (cable channel 13) station that is the studio for "The Daily Buzz". I seem to recall that they were/are hiring. I think they were looking for a marketing/account exec. You might want to call them.

Yea... gotta love the timing. I see it from their side too... I had a hell of a nice end of year bonus set for me. Lord knows they didn't want to part with it!!

Thats cool Brian. so are you saying its cut throat here, or the whole industry in general? i know im glad i didnt choose to go towards the direction of radio or television, but i know journalism from a periodical aspect is probably just as bad.

still, if you ever interview up here, you have a place to crash, or at least let me know, and we can grab lunch or somthing. best of luck tomarrow in Indy.

Looks like it could be a blessing in disguise I sure hope so.
Same thing recently happened to me. I got a better job within a week and it pays better too Sometimes being forced to change can be the best thing to bring about a better lifestyle. best of luck in your interview.
