I don't believe you will notice much of a difference without the sound deadening material. These old 911s are not Lexus quiet so I could barely talk on my cell phone with the stock exhaust due to road noise. Now that I have the M&K forget it. I am going to install a nice 2 channel stereo but it will just have component speakers in the doors and that is it. I am probably wasting a $!,500 but I do like my music when I drive. Good luck and send pictures.

well, when coming home tonite, a bigger box was sitting there. For no apparent reason intalling the roll-over bar could not wait until next day...

Just read all 8 pages. This is exactly the car I would love to build, and coincidentally I'm going to test drive an '88 tomorrow. I'm anxiously awaiting the track results, and the final pics. And most of all, I'm glad MM and Ed 'kissed and made up'. We're all in this together, and everyone has something valuable to contribute.

And this is one valuable thread!

Thanks guys!

Hello NYNick,

Thanks for the kind words. Actually I am picking the car up from the body shop later today. I plan to take her up to Red Rocks for some beauty shots with her new RS look bumpers, front and rear. Here is a shot from late Friday with them fitting the bumpers. The body shop cut out the rear bumper cover to go around the center exhaust pipes - very much like a GT3. I will post pics later today or tomorrow depending on schedule....

Glad you're still there...I'm about to pull the trigger on an '89 and tackle a similar job to yours. Would love to be able to mine you for some tips and details, if you wouldn't mind a phone call or two at your convenience.

Thanks

Nick

Sure, just shoot me a pm with your phone number. I would be happy to share sources, costs, etc.

Picked up the car today from the body shop with the new bumper covers. They did a great job with fitting them to the car and matching the color. I really like the cutout they did for the exhaust that mirrors more current GT3s.

Agree, very nice and that exhaust is a nice detail. Now lose the side rockers and rubber strip and it'll look right

That was my original plan, however, I learned that '87-'89 cars are very ugly minus rockers. Look at post #62 and you will see the square impressions all along where the rockers cover. Also, g50 cars have larger torsion bar covers. All in all, not good looking minus rockers.

I shot an updated video of the car's exhaust note. It seems to have mellowed since I first installed it a few weeks back....a little more rumble but a nice tone. It is actually not too loud inside the car even with the windows down and it just sings above 3,000 RPM.
