Badass hairdressers that want to go fast, while open-air motoring.

I guess I missed the rule of owning a Porsche where you have to keep it a certain amount of time.

Oh, I just noticed you have 21K+ posts so you must know everything....my apology.
My apologies as well. I had no idea you were so sensitive and hyper combative. Ed asked a legitimate question that was on point. He was hoping to talk shop with you. Ed is one of the guys here that has actually done what you claimed you wanted to do. Instead you got all butt hurt. It was clear very quickly to us outside observers that you were more talk than action when you called "torsion bars" "springs" and went on and on about all your racing experience. .....only to then admit that you took your car to a mechanic.........and dropped $15,000 on a couple thousand dollars worth of parts. It's just classic. Seen it here a hundred times.

....and why's Doyle gotta be such a jerk to Ed all the time? I think the real problem is with the guys that pay someone else to do their wrenching. They seem to always be on the defensive. Always talk a good game and want to be "in", but have a chip on their shoulder, because they are so impotent in the garage.

Pop Quiz: ....can you find my Head Temp Socket in the following picture?

Anyway, try not to get so worked up when someone is trying to help you. You blew an opportunity to dig into one of the biggest brain trusts on the internet.

Wow....
I am somewhat impotent in the garage...that's WHY I'm on Rennlist, to learn from everybody.

Some people want to share, some teach, some see themselves in print. Am I supposed to be ashamed if I bring my car to a Porsche specialist because I feel a particular job is over my head? Geez, that's awfully elitist, and unrealistic.

I have no dog in this fight, I just want to glean the most info I can from the wealth of experience that's on the forums. If I then go to my mechanic better informed, good for me. If I do the job myself, better for me. If I then share my experiences on the forum..well, that's how it's supposed to work, no?

Mike, I hope your car sells soon.

You are correct in your thinking and in your actions. If there is a job that is outside your ability by all means, take it in. That's a much smarter move and one that everyone can respect and applaud.

....But, when guys get butt hurt when the best contributors here offer help the whole point of the forum goes down the drain. Everyone just needs to take a deep breath and realize we are all friends and nobody is trying to insult you when we ask for more info.

Wow! That's one awsome collection of sockets and ratchets, and it's only one drawer. The next probably has an equal collection of wrenches, followed by another full of screwdrivers, punches, bars, and a (little used?) hammer. Then, a special place for all tose measuring instruments....... I hope that's not all Snap-On or you have more money in tools than the cars! I'm jealous!

Not so sure you are serious. Perhaps you've been poking around OT:

I've got your Tiffany right here.

Sadly it's 75% pawn shop. The economy has out of work mechanics pawning $300 Snap On sets for nothing. The most I've paid for an entire set is $60. Very sad for the guys turning them in, but a total bonanza for me. Some stuff has been twenty cents on the dollar.
