I've gotten my '83 SC down to 2528 lbs without any serious exterior body mods...that is wet.
Anyone here worked on the same issue...I'd like to email/talk off line about any techniques to go further to include bumper replacement etc.
Light = fast.

On my Targa: rear seat delete, rear deck delete, underlayment delete (that was at least 100 lbs right there), A/C delete, spare tire and jack delete, carpet delete. Seats are next when I find some race seats I can afford.
But I'm making most of that back up with a 6 point roll cage.

AC delete complete to include all hoses, mounts, condensors etc.took the heavy sound deadning pads off of the rear deck/back seat area and replaced with very lightweight foam/foil. Removed center console. Replaced flag mirrors with vitaloni (mirrors weigh about 7 lbs)...back seat/&seat belts deleted. Removed spare tire/jack and related tools (replaced with a GM air/fix flat pump stored in smugglers box- mosy GM cars come sans spare ..pump works without jacking car up) Optima battery, lightweight pad in engine bay, no cat converter/shield...Recaro seats (cloth older light models)....and some other things I've forgotten.
RS door panels soon and momo wheel (for looks not weight).

I've never welded before, but how hard can it be?
On second thought, maybe I'd better practice on an old wheelbarrow or something.

Love the vitaloni mirrors, but no can do in a cab. I'm already blind enough to my right.
What's the spare weigh? My wife would love the space up there. She says it's cramped up there during long drives.

You can find it on the above Pelican...I've been using his suggestions and weights but have always weighed my own parts.
The spare/jack etc is a good loss by itself and it does make room.

spare is 34 lbs and jack is 5 lbs. The GM fixflat/compressor is a neat deal . I found one on Amazon for 55 bucks new...works fine once you fix your lighter recep to US size and that needs doing for any device you might use.

Ok, funny easy weight loss.....I never use the windshield washers but they do work....wondered how much fluid was in that huge wheel well res. Suctioned it out with my oil evacuator.
17.5 pounds of fluid...obviously Ferry didn't want you to go dry.
That and the heat backdate and some minors stuff has me at 2490 lbs and yup, you can feel the dif greatly on accel.
