Drove cars yesterday. Everyone that lives in SoCal needs to ditch "work" mid-week and run up ACH. Zero traffic.

I drove Tang
A car nut buddy who was in town from the east coast drove the 964

The 964 is massively faster and more capable, i had the advantage of knowing the roads, and my cars. He was impressed by Tang's pace. And, he may be building a 964 after 200 miles in mine LOL

A few musings
I love the way the chassis feels. It's not OVER setup, it's a little floppy, moves around, but is very direct. I'm hesitant to do any more tweaks to the chassis to further "sport it up" as I think it will lose character of the era. You have to work to enjoy it, it will slide nice, and brakes are excellent!
Engine. Car drives and pulls great with the weber/2.7/SSI combo, but carbs SUCK. Angeles crest goes from sea level to about 7500 ft and about 1/2 way up, it's FULL ON or FULL OFF, trying to modulate mid corner it just isn't super happy. At sea level where it was tuned it's Fine. I can't wait to get engine with EFI.
I really like the 901 shifting, no change there, but, 2 too short, 3 just right, spacing 2-3-4 i want tighter. That i need to think about some more.

The wide angle lens on the new iPhone is good for something.

RS back from annual service, cleaned up nice. Will thrash it this weekend up the central coast.

you know. I have this wild idea I’ll take the newer parts off the core motor and refresh the one in the car and put it in a 914 or something lol. Or not???

whatever the next car is. I think it will be green. Viper or conda.

lets see... finish tang engine, trans gearing, a few little things here or there. 964 transmission regear. 997rs clean 'er up a bit more.

AND THEM I'M OUT OF PROJECTS.

Until I tackle 997RS trans/engine refresh and nasty 964 engine build.

you know me, gotta have one going...

can I weld on a top to a 914? maybe the guy who did my roof can fab one.

^ you can't reggae 964 until engine is done. wrong power band otherwise
yes you can weld roof to 914, that's how porsche raced 914/6GT in Lemans 1970

the core is very clean. Lower miles for sure. Documented less than 20k on rebuild.
looks like it has case savers. Ollie’s will evaluate.
everything clean and no abnormal stuff.
most of these bits will be sold off. Some like the pistons and cylinders will likely use to refresh tangs existing 2.7
anyone need a full 2.7 induction and exhaust and cdi ignition????

engine builder says he owes me a 6pack for how clean and easy it was to disassemble. Lol
