Its where my head is at. I don't know, really, on 2.9, but supposedly it puts more stress on the case than is desirable. I believe Andial made 2.9 P/C from Mahle back in the day and clearly they knew what they were doing. I'd sacrifice that last bit of displacement for reliability, though.

Nice!
Hello Spyrex!
I just discovered this thread! I will be reading it tomorrow on a long flight.
In the mean time, I am too lazy...what did you do on wheels/tires? (I am restoring my Irish Green ‘72S. A project that has lost 3 years...)
Any good places to restore wheels? And what size tires?
Those 14 plastic tubs represent engine and transmission fully disassembled and marked by yours truly, going to my engine guy in Detroit. And I am sure that he will let me know that he’s planning on keeping the case and the plastic tubs and replace everything else...

Deep6 with hearts had them refinished by peter Nguyen. He goes by autoclub911 on pelican. The “best” is weidman. Long lead time. Al reed is another. Mooty has one he’s used. All 4 are here in California. If you’re doing concourse level and have a long lead time talk to Harvey weidman
i just did regular factory finish.

Tires are Pirelli CN36 185/70-15. These are great for skinny cars.
Bought tires from Lucas classic tires. Install done by Nate Jones tires.
Oh, and that engine i bought... maybe the case and fan is all that is used lol

Thanks Spyrex. The car looks fantastic! I am going to stick with stock size wheels...I have always cut and widened and modified everything. But in this case, I will stick with stock size wheels.
So you went with Rick Hartbrodt?
