I live dangerously. And I keep my tires inflated. I have yet to find a thread on pelican or earlyS with someone who had a blow out and a tire came off the wheel on a deep6, have you found one? These wheels are 50 years old and have been used on many, many race cars.
A very complete 77 2.7 7R mag case motor is at the shop now. Engine has 20k miles on rebuild. It’s not leaky. Will see what it looks like once disassembled. I’m hoping the components we don’t need for the engine build i can use on the current motor to refresh it. The piston and cylinders were new.

And, i got a couple of these aluminum alloy impact sockets made by Ko-Ken in Japan. Supposed to minimize thrashing the allow Fuchs lug nuts...
Part number is Koken AN14300-19. They have a US distributor but couldn't get a response. So I ordered them on Rakuten (basically japanese Amazon/eBay)
I don' have any to sell. It's way nicer than the one Stoddard sells.
They also have a model AR14300-19 which is a steel impact socket with an aluminum insert.
Cool video. That noise! Probably a little more raw than i want. I really like the way the car drives now. A little more go... is all i think. I’m not sure i will do anything more to the chassis. Possibly digressive valve the shocks.
ok drove a bunch around the neighborhood. This is a zero regrets install. The action and shifting is massively better and more precise. All gears are smother and less slop. Well. As little slop as a 901/911 gearbox can have. My shifter bushings at the lever are new. And my coupler bushings were in good shape.
Needed one small adjustment to bring shifter just a bit away from the dash and right but that was it. I used 2nd gear as the reference gear. Suggest that over 3rd as in case you need to pull lever down to get clearance to remove the coupler.
For install look for the video on youtube for stomski racing. That is supposed to be a great part too. I got the wevo as i also got their clamp which is way more substantial than the factory part.
Ok, Year of Manufacture Plate process is off and running... got a set of "clear" plates, went to DMV today.
I have my temporary registration now and waiting on letter from "DMV" either "ok" or "no" or "we need more info" This could take months. Hopefully I get the "OK" soon.
Here at the steps to get to this point:
1. Get a set of plates. Must be a pair. Must match the date type in the form. It doesn't seem important if the year of the plate number range match the year of make for the car. Basically: 63-69 need a black/yellow plate with 6 characters. This is called a "1963 base plate". For 1970-1979 need a blue/yellow plate with 6 character. This is called a "1970 base plate" Details here: https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/de...rms/reg/reg352 2. Call DMV, ask them "are plates clear for registration using Year of Manufacture Registration" They will say "they are clear" or "they are not valid for use or tied to another vehicle" 3. Acquire a correct color and year sticker. I purchased a real 1971 sticker off eBay. Place sticker on the plate. They will check this! I would not suggest getting a reproduction. 4. Make a DMV appointment 5. Fill out the form 6. Bring with you: 2 cleared YOM plates (1 with sticker), your PAIR of current plates, current CA registration, title, a check, CA DL 7. The clerk will: inspect the plates, sticker, registration, and fill out the rest of the form, and ask you for $45 8. Assuming all goes well: they will take your old plates, give you a new registration, and a decal for the window. -- this is where I'm at right now. The clerk issued the 'temporary' registration for as long as he could - Until October. 9. Now the waiting begins. You'll get a letter with new stickers in the mail, or a letter telling you there is a problem. He suggested if I haven't heard by Sept to call and ask what is going on.
Next Steps: WAIT! You aren't supposed to use the plates until you get the notice and stickers.
We'll see what happens now!
