Porsche CEO Confirms Upcoming 718 Spyder Will Be Naturally Aspirated!

It is. It's in the manual, although not crystal clear. All Porsche sports cars (and maybe others) have a complicated 'thermal management' system, rather than just a mechanical thermostat, like most other cars. When in sport or sport+, coolant runs at about 185ºF, while in normal mode, at about 220. Remember coolant gauge is 'buffered', so it doesn't move from '193' until it heats up above 225, I believe. Since oil is heated/cooled by the coolant, it never runs below coolant temperature. But oil temp gauge is not buffered (thankfully), so oil temperature is always correct. That's why I always hit the sport button as soon as I start the car. I also like the throttle mapping better, so that's what I use all the time. Hope this helps.

I haven't been by these forums in a long while but when I stop in, it always results with me ultimately handing over more money to Porsche.

Anyone added aftermarket heating elements to LWBs? A buddy of mine with w Gen1 Spyder added them to his sofa's and they work great. Beautiful small 3-position switch down in the outside front corner of the base.

Three Wheelin'
The diffuser section will be different. I don't expect to see 'P O R S C H E' script below the duck tail, which will be a good thing. I should be able to get rid of it. Pretty much an evolution from 981.

But, GT3's down force requirements are different from Spyder's. There might also be more space in the back. So, I would expect it to be tidier. As for the front bumper, it will be different, given the larger air intakes and the outlet. I think the styling will turn out just fine. Well, I hope!

Nice work. Very happy with the 981 model and will keep long term. Was not a fan of the GT3.2 looks front end had an allocation for MSRP for next summer delivery. Will keep my RS and Spyder vs. chase the new shinny new object.

Advanced
I think that's unfortunate actually, it would be smarter in my view to continue the clean split between the mid-engine platform and 911 by eschewing de-tuned 911 engines in the smaller platform going forward. Makes for a stronger identity of Boxster/Cayman as something other than a junior 911.
As the same power increases could likely be had by running higher boost on the existing turbos, that would be the more elegant engineering solution in my view.

But it would probably sell like coldcakes. The turbo motors make you want to roll the windows up, not drop the top down.
