No one asked for this update, but just adding to the pool of data for anyone interested:

My end of production date has moved out a net of 7 days since I put in my order last November. Original estimate was May 13 and currently sitting on May 20. At various points, the EOP date was as early as May 4 (gain of 9 days from original estimate) and as late as June 26 (loss of ~5 weeks from original estimate). It seems my car was briefly impacted by the multi-week delay some others are seeing, but then gained almost all of that lost time back.

As mentioned prior... TYD has individual target dates... dealer system is by weeks (Fridays). Thus the difference.

Edit: I see your inbound port is Baltimore. Pending the situation on the Port closure, you are more than likely going to be diverted to another port which will create another delay? Hope it's not the case... maybe they will have wreckage cleared by then and port is reopened? 🤞🏼

Those dates are only targets though and are automated based on if milestones are hit or not.

Just spoke to my SA about the Baltimore situation, and they have discussed this with the regional sales rep. According to them, there shouldn't be any delays from a ship docking standpoint because the VW group facilities are before the bridge. The only delay they are currently predicting is from the trucking portion, which may have to deal with traffic from the road closures. We will see what hold true in a few days I guess.

Add bridge collapses to the list of stuff that could happen to your order:
  • pandemic
  • parts shortages
  • sinking ships
  • port strikes
  • shipping damage
  • stop sales for any number of reasons
Good thing we have effective, hard working SA's to shepherd us through this difficult process

This reminds me of that VW cargo ship that went down a couple of years back. Things can always be worse.

Reliable or not, I was pleased to get this email today;

For what it's worth, production was due to start on Monday based on TYD, the schedule has been very consistent since I got the allocation in January, dates only moving by 1-2 days. Hopefully I can beat the odds, and take my ED slot scheduled in July

For those still in lower stages and wondering when you get a VIN—-it’s when you hit stage 3.

Production scheduled for 9 April.

Schedule steady since 3 Nov.

I’m apparently trailing you by exactly one month

Congrats on the VIN!

My dates haven’t moved since 3 Nov allocation…don’t know what to make of that with all the date change reporting.

It's because you didn't check it multiple times daily like I did. Porsche moves dates the more you check it. LOL
