What's Happening? Deposits on the 2025 983 e718, anyone?
I heard an interesting piece of information yesterday that one of our 4 local dealerships have ZERO deposits on the 2025 e718. This is unusal in that the norm is with every new model released, even a couple years out, Eg.. the Spyder RS, they are instantingly flooded with allocations requests and deposits. None. Zero.
I am sure it will be a BLAST to drive but this would appear to be a luke warm reception (at best) and that the Porsche small sports car community may not yet embracing the e-winds of change.
Thoughts anyone? Anyone have a deposit on one?
Note: This is second-hand data, not directly verified, but I can speak for one Porsche guy (me) that is not running down to move my SRS deposit over to an e718.

It could have 10 million horsepower and do 0-60 in a nanosecond, I have zero interest in fast golf carts. I understand making electric trucks, sedans, etc. but for the life of me cannot understand the appeal of an electric "sports" car with no gearbox or sound.

I think more deposits will go in when the first official pictures are released. I'd be a bit reluctant to put money in a dealers pocket for 2 years then decide it's not for me.

No one knows anything about this car aside from the fact it's replacing the current gen. It won't be a collector car, limited production, etc., so no- not surprised in the slightest and I don't think it's any indication at all on the type of reception it will receive among enthusiasts.
None of that matters anyway, they're building it to sell. Whether that's to enthusiasts or "early adopters" or whatever. They didn't have a problem moving Taycans, I don't think they'll have a problem moving these either. Relative to the sports car market at least, which is obviously not the same as the 4 door electric "performance" sedan.

big difference between a run of the mill vs a GT/RS car. I’ll bet there are no deposits on the basic 992.2s, next gen Taycan, Macan or Cayan either.

I see the E-718 attracting the Tesla crowd. The Porsche people will stick with their ICE cars for a good long while. Might even convert some 718 drivers towards a 911 in the future. Once they officially announce a release date and show exactly what it will look like it will start to get some attention and people will start putting deposits down.

Nobody really knows anything about this car. Models, power, performance, actual styling, actual release date.....nothing. It's one thing when it is a new version of a known entity, but for something entirely new, where nobody really knows anything, it is hard to want to put down money.

It's an unknown quantity, and there should be plenty of them. Why would you put down a deposit now?

I for one am not going to charge in to my dealer and put a deposit on one.
My CarChick can’t stand EVs, so I’d have resistance from that side. She would definitely impede the process.
Anyway, I’m going to reserve my opinion until news on the wire about this new model is more current.
Did I miss anything?
