But it's very important to get my Ackerman angle correct when I'm going to the local cars and coffee, so my powdered sugar munchkins don't get on to my seats, and Porsche just can't build a suspension and supply a tire capable of achieving serious driving like this. Which is why I provide great expertise on the track focused threads...

I think you get a lot of folks that jumped on the "hype" of this car without ever owning a proper, loud sports car previously.

I have never measured the actual decibels but I'm convinced the average loudness inside my STO is higher than the GT4RS...

Put these folks inside a straight-piped Aventador or Viper and I don't think they'll complain the GT4RS is too loud anymore

This.

It’s not a loud car at all, until you get to sustained high (7k+) rpms, which is very difficult to do on the street. Maybe hit 9k for a half second if revving it out in the first few gears.

It’s only crazy loud on the track as one is always in the high rev range. Helmet and earplugs help a lot with the high decibels.

Yes, past several years a lot of people who don't track their cars (and therefore aren't truly skilled drivers) have jumped on the idea of buying Porsche GT cars (which are designed to be streetable track cars) to drive exclusively on the street, far below their limits, sometimes to C&C, with the hope that they can own the cars for a little while 'for free' due to low depreciation.

I don't think any Porsche GT car is really a good street car, but at least the 4RS feels smaller than a 911, has good mid-engine handling, and has a sense of drama to it. I had a 991.1 GT3, and currently have a 991.2 3RS and 992 GT3, and while I believe they can be enjoyed on the street if driven aggressively, I think they really want to be on track. A 911 Turbo/S is better suited for the street, and I rank McLaren best of all.

I haven't been in a viper so I can only imagine how fantastically wild and great it sounds! I did actually measure the decibels of my GT4 RS and in all instances with exception of taking it to 9,000 RPMs the decibel levels were pretty much on par with a convertible or a Targa with the top down. So obviously that's louder than a coupe. But very much livable.

The GT4 is very streetable and good daily driver especially with SOFAs even if its close to the line for most normal people... Ive done about all the mods one can do (Kline exhaust w/ 200 cell headers, MCS 3way suspension at 9/11 springs, aggressive street alignment and 19 Apex wheels and RE71RS tires...) and its really a lot of fun to drive everywhere and I never get tired of it and dont wish I was in my wifes 992CS as its too boring (even with an M Tune). The size is great and the frunk AND hatch are sooo good for convenience. It will also double as a very capable and fun track day car as many know. So the GT4 is a very adaptable product. I would say though the real street only sweet spot in the Cayman line up is the GTS.

The 4RS is a terrible street car. I thought about driving mine into a telephone pole. Decided to keep it and see if it gets better than my 99 Boxster with time. So overrated.

This level of hate just makes you sound green with envy I hope you know and casts doubt on whether you have the car.

I’ll take the word of Catchpole, Farrah and every other credible driver who’s driven this thing. I can’t find one journalist who didn’t adore this car, it even won the 992 GT3rs shoot out on top gear.

Raiti from Raitis rides appeared to have some sort of out of body experience driving it a few weeks back. You can’t fake the excitement these folks are showing.

We had a 981 GT4 and I agree that, other than the noise level, it was pretty streetable, more than the 911 GT cars. I drove a friend's 718 GT4 and thought it was even better than the 981 GT4, and that was part of the reason I decided to sell the GT4. Once the 4RS arrives, I don't think I'll be missing the GT4 at all (don't really miss it that much even now).

Total sarcasm. I can take you for a ride if you're ever in Md lmk.

Oh and another thing. The way this car bounces around makes me feel like I'm riding a John Deere Farm tractor with one of those suspension seats. I'm surprised people don't die everytime they drive this thing hard.

Check out my link below , that's how I feel about the 4RS.

Really.. Car Journos as an honest reference for anything??? Id rather come to RL and hash it out here than listen to what the paid promotional advertisements or AP have to say.... They are all mostly talking out of their *****...
