Or a Civic?

Or a Subaru SUV?

My point is that nice colors aren't exclusive to specific cars. If you like a color, assume someone else probably will too.

I get there's a bit of a trend for certain colors at certain times, and flat greys are trending right now, this is true. But just go check out some of the delivery threads from the past year for both the 718 and 911... they're going to run out of Shark Blue paint.

Just go look through this very sub-forum. The "official" color threads tell an interesting story... right now there are over 1100 posts in the Shark Blue thread, that was started in April last year. By contrast, the Gentian Blue thread has similar post count, but was started an entire year earlier.

The white color thread has just over 400 posts.

If you want exclusivity, get white. Lol.
Yeah thanks for that, I'm well aware other car manufacturers also make blue cars. At the moment though, these flat grey cars seem to be the on trend colour, so they are everywhere I look. I have been paying very close attention to it now that I have to decide on the colour of my GT4, and even on this mornings drive to work (approx 10mins) every car I saw was grey, silver, gun metal, black, white etc. I saw ONE bright blue Audi Q3, that looks similar to Shark blue, and it just jumped out at me in a sea of neutral coloured cars. If that Q3 were black, I wouldn't have even noticed it.

So whilst I do love the flat grey colours on a porsche because they do wear them very well, I'm just thinking the $6000 upgrade to a special colour might be a waste for something that's so neutral, IMO.

FWIW, in Australia for some reason most people go with the standard free colours. I've been watching the used car market for 18 months and there's been ZERO shark blue GT4's come up for sale, nor have I ever seen one in the flesh. I know of one in another state, and that was from a picture that was shared on social media. There's also only been 1 chalk and 1 miami blue GT4 come up for same in the last 18 months, so regardless of whichever colour I choose between Shark, Chalk and Arctic, there won't be many of them in the country.

I won't disagree that 95% of the cars on the road are grayscale or some half-assed shade of burgundy, taupe, or night blue... and I can't speak to Australia as you guys are literally on the other side of the planet... but I feel like I've seen just as many bright blue cars as flat grays. They're both on-trend colors for sure...

But the thing about shark blue is that it's very rapidly becoming a very common Porsche color. I know they got a year head start but I've seen personally in the flesh no less than 5 Shark Blue cars, yet my Arctic Grey Boxster remains the only one my eyes have ever rested on to this day. There aren't a ton of P cars around where I live but they're not what I'd call rare.

All of this also to say that it's because people like the color. I definitely like the color too! And end of the day, that's all that matters... if your heart rate elevates when you see it, then that's really all you need to know. Personally I'd be pretty happy in most colors with one of these cars. I've owned so far Carrara White, Carmine Red, Black, and now Arctic Grey in Porsche sports cars, and loved looking at every one of them!

I came across these pics on a GT4 Facebook group, I hope the owner doesn't mind that I share them here. Seeing these pics really has made Arctic Grey a serious contender, looks great.

Arctic Grey on a GT3 Touring showroom display car at my dealer. The interior is two tone Black with Speed Blue leather and seatbelts and contrast stitching in Racing Yellow.

I see what they did there with the two-tone tying in from the exterior to the interior. I like it, but personally I would have stuck with just the blue and had the calipers painted.

I wish Porsche let you pick your caliper color. The universal yellow for PCCB is kind of annoying TBH.

Overdue photos of my arctic grey touring. First 1000 miles down and loving it. The color is so much better in person. It varies greatly with lighting.

Thanks for the pics. Shark blue and Arctic Grey are the two I'm tossing up between for my GT4. It's so hard, they both look great. Arctic more subtle, shark is fun and loud

Got her home last night after PPF! Sharing the garage with another 4.0L NA that revs to 8k+!

ignore the state of the garage, wiring for new lights and drywall being done! Just a little late “nesting” for the new car lol
