I was indecisive about choosing this optional. In the end, I did. First, the price is cheap, and secondly, other Boxster, Spyder models don't have this option. I wanted it to be special, especially when the top is open.
However, there's no right or wrong, it's entirely a matter of personal aesthetics.
PS: The texture of the original paint is way more better than the wrap.

Ordered mine with the matt black A-Pillar / windshield frame. For me, once you see it, you can't unsee it (painted A-Pillar on a conrtible). I love the blacked out A-Pillar. Brings your focus to the belt-line. I have 2 other convertibles (718 Spyder, LC 500). They both look weird to me now. I'm going to do the same for these vehicles as well. But only after the SRS arrives. Based on the configurator photos, it's difficult to tell why Porsche has chosen the matt variant. Perhaps the film has to match the inner parts to increase the effect of this whole area being one piece? I was about to take my LC to the local PPF shop, but decided to hold off. Once I know exactly what Porsche is doing here, I'll follow the same principle for the others (matt or gloss)

Or it's possible that this black accent also provides matching look to the aforementioned 'cheap' looking ducts on the hood & fender. I'm not expert in color theory, but I want to make sure. As mentioned above, when I get the DB carbon bits on the hood and fender, It may also kill the effect. Then I'll have to remove & replace the film with a glossy one. No big deal.

After seeing the matt filmed a-pillar, doesn’t this look weird?

that trim is piano black. currently PPFd. So i need to be very careful.

Anyone have a close up photo of the Spyder RS window frame? I’m sure it’s likely the same as the 718 Spyder, but mine is up on the lift. Really curious.

I ordered it for the contrast. I'm only concerned about who it will hold up, also curious as to what is under the wrap they put on, is it painted body color or something else? I'm assuming body color.

i believe it’s confirmed that it’s just a vehicle color wrap over the original paint.

I hear you but I think this is more true in white or other lighter colors than maybe some other darker colors like gentian blue, vanadium etc. I don’t think it would be as much an eyesore

Subjective of course, but I definitely prefer the window frame in body color.

Thanks for the pics. From what I can tell from the photos. Difficult to tell. The door side looks like a matt trim, and the glass side doesn't appear to be any extra trim at all.

That is likely because the code was generated on the Swedish configurator, you can use translate in the browser, but the prices will still be in Krona

Excellent. Thank you! So my assumptions were correct. Other than the rubber climate seal for the windows & roof, there are no extra trims. Which means, that matt film was intentional to make sure it matches the matt plastic ducts & front aero bits. Something to think about as I am planning on upgrading the aero bits using DB Carbon's glossy CF bits. Answers all my questions. If I move forward with the shiny DB Carbon bits, then adding an extra layer of glossy film on top of the matt film shouldn't be an issue. When I do this, I'll just tape it on to see how it looks before making it semi-permenant.

Off topic, I guess If I'm doing this to the LC, the A-Pillar film needs to be glossy black to match the piano black trim pieces on windshield and everywhere else.

I’ll take it. I’ll take any new Spyder RS videos that aren’t obvious AI/you tuber BS.

I’m hungry for news and all the Spyder RS videos to date have been completely useless other than the one from Matt Farah.
