Yeah if you're talking to a sales guy, he's blowing smoke up your you know what. Car isn't announced, no allocations exist in the system which means no dealers even know how much they're getting so they can't even trade without knowing that. This is also going to be a 1 year model run potentially which means 1000 units or so(Spyder's are 1/2 to 1/3 of GT4RS production per year) to America. Now there's about 150 918 VIP's left so say they take those cars which brings it down to 850 cars. There are 198 dealers in America which means the biggest volume dealers such as Porsche Beverly Hills will get 6-10 cars for the whole run while the small no name ones will probably get 1-2 max.

A build order means nothing in the Porsche system other than showing interest. It isn’t an allocation.
Fact is, you can’t even enter such a request because no car exists on the system and it can’t be configured.
No dealer knows how many cars they will be allocated, even for current models. It’s just a guess. Any “trade” would also be just a guess at this point.
Unsure why the SA may be providing you such info, but it’s all suspect.

I’m thinking there is something lost in translation with your convo with the SA.

I didn’t say a build was put into a system. They just already decided on what’s coming.

There's no way of him knowing this. The car hasn't been announced yet, the production schedule hasn't been fixed, and no dealer knows how many cars they are getting. No dealer knows how they can be configured because there's no option list because the car doesn't even exist officially. First, your SA is a headlight technology retrofit expert, now he apparently knows more than PAG about a car that doesn't officially exist yet.
Ken, for your own sanity, I'd suggest you stop putting so much faith into the accuracy of the nonsense your SA is feeding you.

The local dealer, one of the bigger in the nation, just learned what they'll be allocated for the balance of 2022. They have literally no idea what they'll get in 2023 other than making guesses based on prior years. Of note, they were VERY surprised by how few 911s and 718s they were allocated, and mentioned that Porsche has been taking a MUCH more conservative stance in the last month or two in implying to customers that they have cars allocated. They will be much more "just in time" about ad-hoc allocations in 2023 in order to better match customer expectations.

Debut is expected for November 2022 at the LA Auto Show… with allocations for the RS Spyder not being distributed until the beginning of the new year. Hope to have mine for Rennsport Reunion!

So it doesn't appear that the ducktail is deployable. Anyone see it differently?
