After a few months wait, I finally picked up my CGTS this past Tuesday then drove it 400 miles home.
pics 1-3: taking delivery!, 4: after Track Armor applied, ready for battle ... LFG!!, 5: 9 hours later, home
As they say on Shark Tank, "with that, I'm out" Good luck to those of you still waiting. It's a fun (and sometimes excruciating process) tracking the progress, but it's worth the wait.
How long did it take your car to get headed to dealership after it came ashore in SD ?
mine landed 8/9
It sat at the dock for about 5 days then got to the dealer early the next day. YMMV, lot's of reasons for port delays. Hope you're get's transported soon!
mine arrived same day in San Diego. Cleared for transport on 8/16 and arrived to dealership on 8/24 down to the wire as I drove down from San Francisco with a group of friends to pick it up on 8/25.

My Chalk Cayman GTS is sitting down in Houston waiting for a truck, so thanks for the posting as it makes me more confident on ordering a color I had not seen on a Cayman -- me likes and mine is just a sibling , not a twin as I ordered Carrera wheels in a deviated color ( Agate Gray Metallic )
Great looking car and I hope the birthing of my baby comes soon. Congrats on yours, she is adorable!
Was the manufacturing in Zuffenhausen or Osnabrück? Sounds like production has mostly shifted to Osnabrück for the MY2024.
Osnabruck. It is my understanding that the vast majority of 718 Cayman’s, including the GTS 4.0 and GT4, are/were produced at Osnabruck. MY2024 718s is just an expansion of what they were doing previously, including moving boxster production up there. My previous 2016 GT4 was made there as well.

Mine is also stuck in port in SD. After speaking with my SA over the weekend, I was told that trucks have been largely unavailable. I don’t get to pick up until 9/28 at PECLA so I’m doing my best not to bite the rest of my fingernails off.
Look for the letter K slightly over half way down your Vin number , and if you find that letter instead of an S you have an Osnabruck build. The positive note is that Emden is a very short drive North so easier to get trucked up to your Container Ship.
On another note, my Cayman GTS is on a truck today and on its way to Omaha. Hopefully the little Chalk Croc will be there tomorrow or Thursday, but since they could be dropping off other vehicles in the Dallas/Ft. Worth, OKC, or Wichita Dealerships along the way ( maybe even a drop in KC ) I figure Thursday is the best bet.
Finally , but it will be nice getting some break in miles driving over to the SCCA Solo Nationals in Lincoln,Nebraska. The Chalk Croc won't see any track or autocross fun until next year with the " Break In from Hell " 2000 mile workout.

Congrats! That's very exciting, you'll have a fantastic autox season next year.
Looks like I do have an Osnabruck build. It should be in production with a 9/26 estimated completion date for an 11/15 delivery. I don't understand why some 718s are built in 1-2 weeks but others take more than a month. It is what it is.
Having been almost through the process I believe I can give you some insight based on my order as well as being in the Automotive Business for 30+ years and doing a lot of ordering myself. Porsche has a fun Marketing Program with Track Your Dream ( TYD ) but from my perspective they need to emphasize one key area much stronger , and that is the simple note that the dates given are " Estimates." We all read that but Porsche being Porsche, we figure they are pretty damn good estimates and probably much closer to exact than other Manufacturers might be. Oh contraire my friend, they are hampered by some of the same issues everyone else is and the system is set up on a matrix to hopefully balance out for all customers. In the end it was interesting to follow, exciting at times when things actually went quicker than expected and frustrating when there was a minor glitch. Knowing all of the steps were " Estimates " makes no difference to the human psyche, because each delay or change can cause " Das Bier Attacke " to help salve your little wounds with a proper Deutschland tradition -- keeps you in the mood for your Teutonic Vehicle Build. Not to go on forever a few key points to note, using my order as an example.
My build process went quite quickly and I surmised it was because I had a relatively simple build ( no fancy colored stitching , no carbon fiber, no custom paint, simple interior , etc. ) and common sense tells one if they have numerous colored items from belts to dials to seat and dash trim, that it might take a bit longer to source all those things. With such a distinctive build allowed for each buyer, the more complex , the longer it will likely take to build. Secondly once completed the advantage of being built in Emden is if a ship is in Port a last minute truckload could conceivably get there easier than finding transport down in Zuffenhausen. Lastly, if the vehicle is completed but no ship in Port due to weather, mechanical, or delays for say a priority shipment, then your car does not make the last " Boat " to Amerika. All this is just a quick example , but my car was done, two days later it was at Emden and a day after she shipped out. I was pumped because my original date to the Dealer was ................drum roll...............September 29th. I got a nice little note letting me know the day before it was finished in Osnabruck that my car would be at the Dealer on ............drum roll number two............August 26th!!!
You then get little notices as the ship crosses the Atlantic and you are shocked since the AutoContainer Vessel holds between 6500 and 7000 vehicles is ripping through the waves at 18-19 knots! Call your Salesperson when the car boards for it's luxury cruise and find out the name of your Porsche's personal transport. Once you have that check Marinetraffic.com to follow your ship's route, and don't be surprised at how inaccurate it is because Porsche just shows you a simple route to your specific Port, and if there are stops along the way ( say for instance Baltimore or Jacksonville ) it will only show the vessel sitting out in the Atlantic somewhere.
Back to my car's trip over , after the Siem Cicero moored in Jacksonville, I got an update from TYD that my car would still be at the Dealer on the 26th of August. So, the estimates were looking good for a docking on the 20th in Houston, and then a car in Omaha by the 26th. Bingo the next day I get a revised estimate showing the Dealer would have the car by the 24th of August after getting to Houston. Second day out of Jacksonville I get another revision that the ship will be in Houston the 18th, with no change for arrival at the Dealership. I checked Marinetraffic and the Cicero gets in the evening of the 17th and late the 18th Porsche tells me the ship just arrived on the 18th and I should see the car on the 24th. Cool.................er..............what is today..............why it is the 29th and no car, but with all the trucks out in Monterrey for the Concours D'Elgance I bet there were none readily available? So on the 30th, or the 31st, I will personally estimate ( Porsche has not given me one now, ha) I will see the little GTS beast and since originally Sept. 29th was the date of arrival I am thrilled.
Nothing like a small book for a logical and rational answer to something that will keep you on pins and needles regardless , but remember...........................das Tripp zum Porsche auto ist ein Schatzung!
Congrats! That's very exciting, you'll have a fantastic autox season next year.

FYI, my car took an additional 5 days, after I got the “production finished” picture on TYD. In addition to TYD being a bit of a guess, I think (don’t know for sure), it goes to a “finishing area” for exclusive options. And my ‘24 BGTS was built in zuffenhausen, so I think it’s the same no matter where they’re built.
