Anyone have pictures of a shark blue Cayman GTS with the Satin Platinum wheels? I am debating between the silver or platinum but haven't been able to find good pics of the platinum. Thanks

I have a Spyder so similar. I saw a SB on the lot with silver wheels and I hated it. Promptly changed my build to platinum.

In the sun the silver washes out the SB making it look a bit albino IMO.

MaddMike, you've posted a lot of good stuff here and I like your spec, happy for you that you were able to get it just like you wanted (I lost out on PDLS+). But I have to say, I need some of what you're smoking. How in the heck do silver wheels wash out Shark Blue? What does that even mean? Albino, really? Me thinks you realize after the fact you erred in selecting platinum and have buyers remorse, silver wheels are clearly superior Sir. Silver pops, platinum blends with the PCCB discs and if anything can "wash out" Shark Blue, it's platinum. Silver for the win

I have platinum satin wheels on my car and for the most part I like them, but they never seem really *clean* to me. At first I didn’t think this was true, but they do seem to hide the brake dust well (probably because they’re the colour of brake dust lol).

I have to agree with Maddmike. Went to look at SB Spyder with silver wheels, and my god it looks terrible. In the sun it washes out really bad, has too much of a contrast. Not a fan. Black or platinum wheels with black calipers IMO.

I love the combo. My previous 718 GT4 was RY with satin black. The satin Platinum fits Shark Blue perfectly!

I love silver wheels and had them on my QV. Huge fan of silver in general so I was surprised that I hated it on the Shark Spyder that I saw in the sun. I didn't want to pay $1000 for a different color wheel but I did and I'm very happy with my choice. I also blacked out the Porsche emblem after seeing that car. Just too much bright and not enough contrast for me but to each their own. I'm glad you are happy with yours.

Indo have a set of Apex Wheels on order and decided to go with dark bronze on those for a fun change but no silver for me on my Shark.

Maybe that design looks better. I loved the pictures I saw of the Shark with silver but in real life the silver finish on our base GT cars did not look very high end.

What I meant by albino was that there was no contrast. In the sun, everything was blindingly bright and all blended together. I thought I had finalized my build then I saw it in person and it just wasn't for me. Maybe the RS cars have a better finish than our cars. They are just wheels after all and can easily be swapped if you don't like them.

As an owner of a SB base boxster, I can tell you that if I keep the tires BLACK, then it's looks great. When I slack off and the tires start to get that gray/less than BLACK look to them, the the contrast is lost and looks "washed out".

Nah, I am not a fan of black wheels. My last Spyder had them but that's because I bought used. My three other cars all have silver so silver/gunmetal is definitely my choice.

I feel like black was big in the early 2000's and in my mind I associate them with Mopar and American iron. I will say that they do work with Shark Blue as it does provide good contrast but they tend to disappear and you can't see the details as well.
