gently pry the trim away...
only about this much...
stick your fingers under the button box and gently push up from the back next to the ashtray - you may need to use the trim pry to help...
out it pops ...
and now stick the module on the left or the right, make sure you plug it in properly (red wire - to keyed side of female connectors - now turn on the ignition to check ... voila - push it back in and dont f**k up the hazard/door lock buttons like I did!

Check out the GT4/Spyder OM...they show panel removal and provide a trim tool somewhere in the frunk. Looks much simpler than the side trim removal.
This is for PDK release functionality.

How about providing some more information, if you have it post a picture or the description of the process. The version of the manual that came with my 2020 Spyder does not have PDK information for obvious reasons...
Likely no included trim tool either.

Can't do that...

Arrived and installed! Took less than 10 minutes and verified works as designed.
In preparation for the install I bought this $12 trim kit on Amazon:
Aside from the obvious that the trim makes removing the leather side blades on the center console easier, there's another benefit. The kit comes with a pair of dual prong tools (top left in the photo) that I slightly stretched open so that they'd fit in the two small holes on each side of the button tray. With a little bit to wiggle the button tray came out in a couple of seconds. I was unable to push my unit up from the bottom so this little tool inadvertently made the removal much easier, safer and faster.
Separate from this mod, the trim kit also makes removing the front turn signals also very quick. Thanks again for posting Larry.

Installed mine tonight, quickly and easily thanks to instructions from others above. Just used a very thin bladed pry tool to pop the center control section out, no need to pull the sides off. Worked perfectly once installed. Going to be so nice to not have to push my preferred three buttons every time I drive it!
