Thanks everybody for all of the kind words and support. This forum has helped me so much in this car purchase in answering my MANY questions as I'm new to the Porsche brand.

With COVID making 2020 such a crazy year, it's not lost on me that my family and I are in a very lucky position to be happy and excited about reporting that I got a unique color on an expensive car purchase. With COVID affecting the entire world in 2020 in so many negative ways, again we recognize that we're lucky to have been able to turn the negatives of COVID into some positives for our family. Prior to COVID, these cars were adding $20k+ for ADM but since COVID, ADM's are almost completely gone with some people reporting discounts on floor models. Interest rates continue to fall and luckily gas prices are still low, home values are holding steady and it seems to be both a sellers (people getting their asking prices) AND buyers (interest rates are extremely low) markets, and the stock market is still making gains.

I look forward to enjoying the fruits of our labor in the near future and hope everybody stays healthy to also enjoy their cars.....but not until at least break-in of 2000 miles is done.

Beautiful color ! I currently have Aqua Blue 981 and on the "list" for a Spyder. I'm very tempted to buy a in stock dealer car in Miami Blue since its no longer available. Looking at the pictures I may have to order Riviera Blue PTS

Do you need sport Chrono with the nav to get the track app to work?

Great color!

My car was originally schedule to begin production on 1/8/21 but my SA just confirmed that it started early on 1/5/21.

It was originally supposed to be on the production line from 1/8-1/15 and then be in Custom Tailoring from 1/15-2/5. I guess back those dates up a couple of days now.

Can someone remind me again when I'm supposed to get the VIN? I assume it's at the end of production.

you need PCM & nav on GT4 & Spyder in order to get the Porsche Track app functionality - GT cars do not have a separate sport chrono option as do non-GTs...

probably better off with a Garmin Catalyst or one of the other more sophisticated systems....

Urgh! Just found out my car has been delayed for the second time now. My car originally was supposed to start production on 1/8/21 but started ahead of schedule on 1/5/21. It was supposed to finish on the regular assembly line on 1/15/21 and then move to Custom Tailoring from 1/15/21-2/5/21.

First delay changed regular assembly completion to 1/29/21 and Custom Tailoring completion to 2/12/21.

Now, I just found out my car got delayed again. Regular assembly line completion is estimated to be 2/12/21. It now shows Custom Tailoring from 2/12/21-2/26/21 and now has a separate V300(Vehicle Completion) date of 3/5/21. Interesting that V300(Vehicle Completion) is now a different date whereas before, it was the same date as V290 from the original schedule and the first delay schedule. So now, it won't exit Port of Benecia until 5/7/21.

I'm guessing since the car is painted on the regular assembly line, maybe there has been a delay in acquiring the PTS paint or something else to do with the paint. I don't think the CXX options are affecting the build since that is done away from he regular assembly line and has it's own schedule for those items. The only other thing I can think of is maybe the photobook is delaying the build since they have to schedule someone to come in and take pictures and I'm guessing COVID is affecting people's schedule and when they can and can't be there on the assembly line.

most likely an "upstream" production delay - the whole system end to end is JIT manufacturing, any change in supply chain or production scheduling will automatically change your car if affected

I feel your pain. I had to endure the COVID delay last year and then the August shutdown. My car was "in" production for over a month. It drove me nuts but eventually you will get your car! Hang in there.

Sorry to hear this, but if you look on the bright side, at least you know your car is in production. Once it's in your driveway, you'll likely forget about this little blip.

I feel your pain. My suspicion is the same as yours: it has something to do with the blue paint. I am not sure why Porsche has to stop offering Miami Blue, but putting pieces together with your experience, could that be a supply chain issue with some of the base coloring required to mix in the Riviera Blue?
P.S. You mentioned a photobook, is that something you can order from Porsche, or a complimentary thing with a PTS order?

The photobook is something that needs to be ordered with PAG. At my time of ordering at the end of July 2020, it was 1790 Euros. Someone in another thread just mentioned yesterday that they tried to order it and they were denied so not sure if maybe the photobook may be the hold up in case they can't get someone in there to takes pictures of my car due to COVID restrictions/scheduling. I guess it's anybody's guess at this point of what is causing the hold up; paint, photobook, other issue. It looks like I won't get my car now until mid-May at the earliest. I guess (trying) to look on the bright side is when I do get my car, hopefully the 'VID will have subsided substantially and the world goes back to normal and I can enjoy dining at the 917 restaurant when we do pickup at PECLA.

Here's a link to a thread I created on the topic sometime ago that has links inside to other threads of pictures of what the photobook looks like.
