All the videos tend to flatten the sound down and you can't really tell volume either. Did they have a valve controller, or just the stock valve operation? Glad you got a chance to hear it, that's always the best.

I’m so glad you had the opportunity to experience it in person. I couldn’t agree more than the videos just don’t sound how it sounds like in real life.

Of course the Kline headers add power... any set of headers with 200cell cats will add power. How much is the question. I conservatively estimate that the full Kline with headers adds about 25HP then with the headers you need a proper ECU tune which adds another 25HP. So CONSERVATIVELY the GT4 is at about 465HP and you can feel it! Also this is just about the right amount of power for this car on the street. If you have a manual (yes I know you can do the PDK) get the shorter gear set and some 19 inch wheels and BANG you got everything you need!

I agree with this and have said it a while ago. It's best to hear these exhausts in person.

The car had the valves kept open at around 60% with a collar - valve control and operation still OEM. The sound difference between full open and 60% is just about imperceivable when pressing the button at idle. I'd most likely set the collar at the most conservative position which I believe you've done. Do you hear a difference in sound when you press the button in the car from quiet to loud with the collar in the most conservative position? At this position how open would you say the valves are when in "closed"? 10%?

I have my collars set to the most conservative position, and when I hit the PSE button at idle I do hear a change where the exhaust sounds more hollow and a touch louder. When I take off though, I can't really hear them close anymore so for me that is perfect. Past 4500 rpm when you're getting after it, I still hear them open but that's fine and the engine does make a different sound on its own up at that range. If you drill back in this thread, and the Exhaust Solutions thread you'll see the photos I posted of the valve flap with the collar on, if you can't find them send me a PM. Hard to guess but I'd say 15-20% "open" when closed LOL. Did you like the sound?

I did like the sound. After climing back into my stock set up you immediately notice the lack in personality.
I do remember your pictures...
Have you played around with the settings of the collars much? Given these (exhausts) were not designed with variable valve adjustment in mind, I always wondered if there was really much of a difference between a crack open all the time vs very open all the time. My guess is anything over 50% open all the time will probably not sound any different vs 100% open.

Yes, going back in to stock after Kline is really noticeable. Been there. I agree, a little goes a long way and I don't want a valves open sound all the time so this works well for me and I haven't moved them since installing, nor would I want it more open.

Uncle D
Are you getting some boominess at 2k RPM with your collar set up? I was checking a vid of yours and it's just so hard to hear these details through speakers and recording...

Volume-wise, how would you guys compare Kline (without headers) to an OE 981 GT4 setup? Versus a 981 GT4 with catted headers?

Asking because I know those two volume levels very well, and I'm trying to do a setup for the 718 Spyder in that volume range.

Thanks!

None.

Without the collars there is a small bloom of bass around that RPM, check this video out at 50 seconds. Super minor.

Here’s with the collars, check out 2:38 minute mark (it is hard to compare the videos but it is the same camera and mic). Gone.
