That is incorrect information unfortunately. They will reach out to you once the car enters the port in US. They have not contacted me yet, my SA had given me the name of the boat that was bringing it in. I checked online today and it had come to Newport Beach (I guess?) on 27th.
I called PECLA to see what I can do to pick the car up before January as all slots for delivery in December is taken. The guy told me I had to wait until someone reaches out about the scheduling. Said my name was on the contact list and I should be contacted by their guy soon.

they contacted me early last month while it was being loaded on the ship.
I was told no GT4’s being delivered at PECLA due to available slot the earliest slot was January 13th
my car arrived in California October 22nd.
I went ahead and canceled the PECLA delivery and just pick it up at my dealer, since I wanted the car before Christmas.

There are so many variables right now it’s hard to say. There are so many Cayenne’s/Macan’s/992’s sitting at port that are cleared that haven’t been delivered, There’s also a ton of 2020 SUV inventory at dealers so they are maybe doing some inventory control with the SUV’s. On the other hand there is far less 992/GT4/Spyder inventory and most of the cars at ports are customer ordered, not dealer inventory. Hopefully what’s happening to the 992’s doesn’t happen to us and we’ll see an update(10/13 is the last entry) on the EPA’s site to see where Porsche is at with the application in the next week. Once the 992’s get approval and start arriving at dealers we should be next and I’m still holding out hope for 12/4 but mentally preparing for a delay. The other uncontrollable variable is COVID which can reduce transportation drivers and processing personnel at anytime for infection/quarantine or close contact quarantine.

Ultimately has to happen sometime so this week is as good as any.
Still hoping we hold on to 4 Dec or earlier...other 718s were moved up so there is hope.

992s got pushed to 11/20 from 11/13 tonight. Let’s hope the 4.0l are also converging on the same date.
I reached out to my SA for comment...he’s been 100% spot on to date.

The 992's have been a disaster, I think that might make a bakers dozen for the number of times they've pushed that date.

My SA just let me know this is accurate. He’s been reliable on dispelling rumors to date, so encouraged this is valid.
SA is off today, but hopefully later in the week have a better idea of dealership arrival. Quick trip from Houston to San Antonio!

I’ll have a quick trip from port to dealer as well, but I wonder how backed up the schedule will be with a boatload (literally) of 992’s also needing to make the same trip. Not sure how much say the dealerships will have in prioritizing vehicles for the journey, but I would think they will want to see the 992’s come first to placate angry clients.

Only a handful of 992/982 4.0l moving to all but the largest dealers.
Regardless, if date holds, all timelines move up 2 weeks.
But back to your question, easy to delay all SUV, sedans for a couple of days to get the sports cars in the dealerships.
