Placed my order today for a 2021 Spyder, PDK, GT Silver, PDLS, light group, 2-Zone climate, Aluminum trim on standard interior. Kept it light on fancy options, they don’t make it faster or corner better

This will be my 12th Porsche but only the 3rd bought new and the first factory ordered. I got my first one in 1977. I had always expected my first factory ordered car to have European delivery but COVID screwed that.......
Pre-traded a beautiful 2015 BGTS with 16k miles. Got a good number and I think the market on that particular car peaked and will really fall off as 4.0 GTS cars start showing up, dealer agrees but I think they already have a buyer for mine so it’s a good deal for both of us.
I was a bit concerned when I dropped off the BGTS this morning and learned they didn’t have an allocation but they insisted they would would be able to trade for one. Well, the sales manager called me about 2 hours ago to tell me they successfully traded for an allocation and were putting my config and name on it as we talked. It has a projected dealer delivery date of 1/21/21, perfect for me. I wanted it before the Rolex 24 and hopefully they deliver on that wish. My SA will email me the commission number and a printout Monday. He was off today which is why I was dealing with the manager.
Now the wait begins.

Congrats on your order but this is a PTS (paint to sample) thread and you ordered the least PTS color imaginable, lol -- gorgeous nevertheless, huge fan of GT Silver as I have it on my Boxster S. Even if you don't need them, please add the heated seats. All potential buyers from places with more than two seasons would thank you and would want your Spyder much more.

Thanks on the advice. Although I know I didn’t need to, I deleted my post, it was not appropriate for this thread. I’ve run a lot of forums, I pride myself for not polluting threads whenever possible.

I saw that another member who ordered a PTS Spyder had to pay an additional $10k deposit just for PTS? Is this common? I was told from my SA I just had to pay the $5k deposit and the rest was due at signing.

I know a NorCal dealer that dictated to someone that colors they would allow for them to order on a GT4 in case they get stuck with the car/back out. Of course they didn't go with that dealer.

Yes, common for big deposit on a unique car. And in California and other states where deposits are refundable by law, you may not even be able to order something not easily resaleable. Try ordering sepia brown and see what happens (I do like sepia brown though). All dependent on dealer and your relationship of course.

20 years ago a local dealer had a PTS Boxster on the lot and the color combination between the funky shade of green exterior and a deviated blue interior was hard to look at. They offered it to me for invoice minus holdback plus another $1000 off, I passed. I asked why they were willing to take a loss and they said they weren’t, the customer paid a non refundable deposit and backed out when he saw if so he forfeited it.
