is it really though?? Not meant to be argumentative but I hear a lot of people say its a phenomenal track and “weekend” car - wouldn’t the GT3 still trump it as an ‘all around’ better car, able to comfortably still go around town when needed etc
Like others said, it's a subjective matter. There will never be an absolute answer.
Some will automatically discount it as not because it doesn't have a manual. Or it's not a 911. Or as a single minority here would put it, it has 'inferior' suspension setup.
For people that are used to driving 911s, and drive the 4RS like a 911, they will be disappointed. Because it isn't a 911. Drive it like a mid engined Porsche and it will dance to your tune. It rewards good drivers as it is as perfect as a driver's car as it can be.
Mine has sofa seats, so it is just as comfortable as my old 992 GT3 which also has sofas around town. But has an added benefit of being a smaller car, so easier to fit into narrow roads and easier to park.
Some points out it's a 'loud' car. Well, it can be if one wanted it to be. Your right foot is controlling the volume button. Get on it aggressively or go deep into the throttle travel and the car will get LOUD. But use it lightly and sparingly and it is no louder than a GT3. The choice is entirely up to the driver. To be honest, I think my old Alfa Romeo 4C was a louder car with all bare carbon interior with no insulation, but that Alfa isn't making loud wonderful noise however. The 918 is another very loud car, the sound system barely stays ahead, like the 4RS, it's making wonderful noise though.
Among the 70+ cars I have own, I would put the Ferrari Speciale at the very very top. With heavy bias I will slot in my 918 as a close 2nd because I really really love that car, it did everything for me, from fun on track to long road trips with another buddy all over North America. Arguably the 4RS comes in 3rd. Over 911R. Points deducted for the 911R because it has a perfect shifter. And yes that's a thing as being too perfect. Every shift is a perfect shift, there is no longer skills involved, unlike older Porsche manual boxes where skill is actually needed to get that perfect shift. The shifter in the console might as well be 6 buttons indicating 1-6, or the 2 up down paddles on the steering wheel.
My 992s, GT3, 3RS or the Dakar actually doesn't crack my top 10, for the simple reason they are too fat and big. Dakar at least got a partial reason of being a semi-SUV to be that big.
Mine too! although looking at yours i feel that i've created the world's most boring 4RS!! but obv not to me.
Not boring at all!! From what I can tell, you have the GT Silver metallic - looks lovely - and you went without the Weissach package, which is what I did. I went with basic white and brought a bit of red into the interior with red door loop pulls and belts. For me, this was the essence of the Porsche Motorsports colours. LED headlights are pretty much a must, at least in North America, because we cannot get PDLS without spec'ing them.

I have the same spec starting build this month (GT Silver, no WP) but with the neodyme wheels. As a young teenager I would do the Porsche config online with silver (Arctic back then I believe in the early 2000s) so for my first Porsche always had to be a silver for me!
