Of all the car youtubers he comes across as an excited kid, not objective at all.

Can anyone confirm the exact width of the tire footprint of a GT4RS?
I recently became a Futura Trailer dealer for N. Florida / AL / MS / LA and the trailers are 81" wide inside the edge railing.
I see various widths shown online but it does not sure if this is the width of the body, or the tire footprint.

Interesting point of view. One of the nicest things about these special cars is that they aren't so high strung that you can't slap your track box in the frunk and drive to the track in the morning driving the same tires that you're going to hoon around the track with. I find that the Sport Cup 2s (i.e. not R-comp) hit the sweet spot nicely. I'll stick to R-comps on my race cars.

If you want to get the most out of a RS on track (or anywhere) and test its and your limits, it's far better to do this on Cup2R. In fact the 718 GT4 RS performance envelope has been defined on Cup2R tires. Like anything with fast cars, its pay to play - if you want optimal performance.
PS - whilst the RS models are great cars and represent peak performance from a particular Porsche model run - frankly, they're not that special - more of a focussed variant (thats my personal view and I use them purely as track toys). In my view, they're broadly equivalent of the WRX STI but sold in the upper end car market (noisy, brash, tacky - Weissach pack - and quick).
Here's a thought, whats the difference between a PDK 718 GT4 and GT4 RS, both with MPSCUP2, on a public road............................................................

Hi everyone,
it seems like the GT4RS is capped at a topspeed of 183mph (GPS) instead the claimed 195mph. We have now several reports in Germany all describe some kind of soft limiter at a speed of 304km/h which equals roughly 295 km/h GPS-measured.
Yes, a RS is not meant to be an Autobahn-beast and most of you may not care, nevertheless it's a issue that will be of discussion.
Here are two vids showing it too:
Cheers

Your car your choice
- the point being, the RS is set up to use Cup2R to deliver track performance but delivered with Cup2 (or equivalent). The Cup2 is a poor track tire compared to the Cup2R. Like most sensible people, I have two sets of wheels (a) one set with Cup2 for general road use and (b) one set of wheels with Cup2R for track /competition use - you can easily go through a set of these in a day, hence my comment about budgeting accordingly.

It is possible that the theoritcal 195mph is with zero downforce settings, or it is just theortical - but when in 7th gear it does not reach 9k limit, so my guess is 195 is not "as tested" but the theoritical top speed if the car reached 9k in 7th gear.
189 mph is rolling for a street car - I hope to visit that limit when at Daytona.

304 km/h speedometer equals roughly real GPS 295 km/h which comes to 183 mph. Folks in Germany tested it with the wing on the lowest setting and confirmed that the car runs into a limiter. It basically suddenly stops accelerating at 304.
That's obv an electronic setting to cap max speed.
The official number is 314 km/h and just like with hp car manufacturers are obliged to deliver that number with a certain kind of tolerance.
Real 314km/h should equal more like 325 on the speedo.

The fact that the car is not reaching 195 mph means that it is never developing its full power as designed to do so in 7th gear.
Rather than a soft electronic limiter, I think it’s more likely that the aerodynamic drag is too high to achieve this speed with the available engine power (the reasons for this are open to debate). If the car was tested in its high downforce mode, this would be one logical explanation (though there is some evidence that it was in delivery mode).

I recommend the video, it's visible how the car runs into a soft limiter at 304 and is identical to what folks in Germany say. They even notice a different sound like if you put your foot from the throttle.
Porsche has capped it electronically. The question is: why? And: will they eventually bring an update in the future to uncap it?

And yes, there is a big debate on the German forum in regards to this Vmax not being achieved.

Interesting, 8300RPM is quite a bit short of the 9000RPM advertised. I wonder if the soft limit is only in 7th gear?
