I always found an 'S' model too expensive while finding the base model lacking in torque. Yes.. shallow that I might want that in normal driving conditions as opposed to focusing solely on balance. Still, it appears this is being addressed in the new model. At 296HP and 280 ft/lb's, won't the new base model be pretty close to the outgoing S model in terms of real world performance?

Found some photos of the 718 in yellow through Porsche exclusive. More photos here: http://www.porsche.com/usa/accessori...exclusive/718/

Ok, those wheels aren't on the configurator, so I'm gonna hold out hope that the STs may be added as well at some point.

Pretty sure you can order GT2 seats on any 991/981 outside of the US/Canada. 918 seats are only for GT & Spyder variants only as far as I know.

I already have a 6 cylinder Porsche. This 718 configuration is intriguing to me as well. Especially as a commuter. Better MPG, lower costs, greater torque. Kudos to Porsche for changing it up.

Those new 20" Carrera Sport wheels are interesting, but do nothing for me. Might just need some time getting used to them.

If Porsche is going this route, why not call the "718 Cayman" the "904 Cayman"? Afterall, there were no 718 coupes to my knowledge. Yes this is dripping with sarcasm.

I'm intrigued. I've yet to own what I consider a "modern" Porsche. I never liked bolting a hair dryer onto an engine and calling it high performance. I always thought 4 cylinders were not enough.
Yet I'm excited to learn more/drive a 718 Cayman S. Whenever that may arrive.

Will have to wait til the 718 is out to hear the fearsome four. But, as my wife said when I started up my car last night, "isn't that engine a bit loud?" Yep, and sounds great! Nothing like a NA Porsche six.
