Unveiled in Atlanta, 2020 Cayenne Coupe boasts sharp lines, adaptive rear spoiler, and optional carbon fiber roof.

For quite some time now, while Porsche was improving upon its line of luxury performance SUVs, BMW was off lopping-off the backsides of a couple of theirs, transforming them into coupes and having that segment all to themselves. Did the Bavarians really think Stuttgart wouldn’t notice?

Today, the notice was delivered from Atlanta, where Porsche unveiled the 2020 Cayenne Coupe, and it’s coming for the X4 and X6.

“The Coupe includes all the technical highlights of the current Cayenne,” said Porsche AG board chair Oliver Blume, “but has an even more dynamic design and new technical details that position it as more progressive, athletic, and emotional.â€

“The significantly more steep roof line that falls away to the rear makes the Cayenne Coupe appear even more dynamic,” added Porsche styling vice president Michael Mauer, “and positions it as the sportiest-looking model in the segment.”

The overall package of the Cayenne Coupe is a sight to behold, with sharp lines leading back to the new, swoopier backside, which are accented by a roof spoiler and an all-new adaptive rear spoiler. And speaking of the roof, a large panoramic glass roof with integrated sunshade is standard, with a model-exclusive carbon-fiber roof available in one of the SUV’s three lightweight packages.

Inside, the Cayenne Coupe comes with a pair of eight-way adjustable sports seating up front and a rear bench standard. The latter can be swapped out comfort rear seats for no additional charge. No matter what seats are in the back, though, rear passengers will have plenty of headroom thanks to the lower seating position.

Under the hood, the Cayenne Coupe comes with a single-turbo 3.0-liter V6, good for 335 horses, 332 lb-ft of torque, and a zero to 60 time of 5.7 seconds. The Cayenne Coupe Turbo, on the other hand, derives its power from a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 making 541 horses and 567 lb-ft of torque, delivering a time of 3.7 seconds from zero to 60.

The 2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe will arrive in showrooms later this fall, with a starting price of $75,300 for the standard model, $130,100 for the Cayenne Turbo Coupe.
