Could we see this swoopy, dramatic Porsche Cayenne Coupe as early as this fall? According to recent reports, yes.

There’s no doubt that the SUV world is still ablaze, perhaps more so than ever. And though the move attracted its fair share of detractors, Porsche’s decision to build ‘utes has paid off more than anyone could have ever imagined. So it should also come as no surprise that the automaker is also considering building a sportier version of its flagship SUV. Porsche CEO Oliver Blume admitted as much to Autocar late last year, but now it appears that a Porsche Cayenne Coupe arrival is imminent.

That news comes to us from Germany’s AutoBild, which confirms that the swoppy ‘ute will arrive late this year. The Porsche Cayenne Coupe could debut as soon as the Paris Motor Show this fall, in fact. But there’s no concrete date at this time. Don’t expect any sort of changes in terms of drivetrain or trim offerings, as this is purely a styling exercise.

But it’s one that makes too much sense not to happen. After all, both Mercedes and BMW offer coupe versions of the GLE and X6, respectively. And consumers are more than happy to scoop them up, despite the fact that the dramatic roof treatment eliminates passenger headroom and storage capacity. But looks are much more important than pesky things like that, right?

Speaking of looks, we had our resident artist produce these original renderings of the Porsche Cayenne Coupe, and it is a stunning thing. The sloping roofline actually looks right at home on a Porsche, given the brand’s iconic (and persisting) basic body designs. Thus, building a Cayenne Coupe seems to be the equivalent of a no-brainer, for more reasons than one.
