German drag racing event attracts the fastest cars on the planet, but not a single one can hang with this Porsche. Â
We often talk about the “fastest” of this or the “quickest” of that. But automotive manufacturers and tuners are constantly pushing the envelope, resetting the record books on a seemingly daily basis. Thus, the never-ending pursuit of speed records just keeps pushing forward. So when German tuner 9ff decided to build a record-shattering Porsche 997 911, they chose to up the ante more than one notch. Heck, instead of just advancing one rung up the ladder, they blew the ceiling of speed wide open.
The silver hammer you’re looking at produces nothing less than 1,600 horsepower and uses every one of those ponies to smash the competition. And it does exactly that in this incredible video from Gumbal. Who, coincidentally, was also able to ride along in this insane car on a number of acceleration blasts.
9ff brought out their incredible Porsche 997 911 for this year’s Rolling50 Deutsche Meisterschaft, which takes place at Black Forest Airport in Lahr, Germany. Unlike many other similar events, this one focuses solely on drag racing. Not just from a straight line, mind you, but also from a rolling start.
Now, Gumbal is a guy who spends his life riding around in and driving the fastest cars on the planet. But after stepping out of this Porsche, he seems to have found the holy grail. “What a rocket! This is without any doubt the fastest car I have been in! Damn.”
That much is also pretty easy to see in this clip. The monstrous Porsche lights up the tires and nearly gets sideways at impressive speeds. You’ve got to hand it to the driver for sticking in there, that’s for sure. But the reward for that bravery is total event dominance. All manner of supercars and exotic machinery line up against our hero Porsche. And not a single one can outrun it. As far as the competition goes, we’d say it’s time to head back to the drawing board!
